1st person pov is not the best option for 3 different main characters... Sure they each get their own chapters, but it's still a chore for the reader to get into that person's mind space after being in someone else's!

And why are they dressing in skirts and veils? Sure I get desert/sand, but skirts for men and women? or is that just the rich men... Need to explain a tad bit better!

Very slowly starting...

I'm going to call this a 'Cozy YA Fantasy'. There's not a lot of action or suspense, and so far suitable for readers 12+.

I do have a guess on what 'action' will happen along with a suspicion of who...

A lot of descriptions... Some are needed, but it's a tad overwhelming.

Slow... And with the jumps between this and that and it and them, it gets irritating. I still don't know exactly who, or what is this or them. There's no definition of the characters/species, or what makes them important.

Just can't get into this one. Going to try for a few more nights.

For anyone who has worked retail.... This one is funny....

I get that the MC is a folklorist, but the 'telling' of said folklore is quite boring and slows down an already slow book!

Not caring much for this one. Very slow read... (I still don't know why the MC and her 'people' are hated so much, and what makes them different. It is a very irritating unknown! Was it told, I have no idea; if it was, maybe it was buried in the telling of the folklore.

I'm reading this one early because it's the oldest book on my NetGalley shelf 'review the oldest book on your shelf' is a Camp NetGalley BINGO square! (And would give me a BINGO!)
