It's been 7 years since I read Fall of Hyperion, and I'm remembering how impactful Dan Simmons's writing is. I know this one is said to be the weakest of the series, but that's like saying Krillin is the weakest DBZ fighter. He's still the most powerful human on earth. ... yeah ok master roshi maybe but not later in the series no way fuck you

This book is fucking up my 2024 reading challenge. I was 1 book ahead now I'm 2 behind. Fuck fuck FUUUUUUCCCKKK!!!!

Listening to audio book while I work on some manuals has really boosted my ppd. I may be done with this monster before August...

So not as boring as I feared. This really is a great book. Some of the dialogue is cornythough, especially Shallan's "clever" responses. It's sorta like:
Shopkeeper: "you're an odd duck"
Shallan: "why I dare say you should see a doctor. I have no bill nor feathers nor webbed feet!!"
Shopkeeper: "what a clever girl you are!"
...ha? :|
