Final battle coming up. I'd definitely realize this had a sequel now even if I didnt know it had one. There's much story still to tell.

Croaker's got the balls to ask Shapeshifter to heal his comrades? Who did The Limper send to Oar to meet the Black Company? If Soulstealer sent Shifter to back up the Company, we're about to see some serious shit. This book has gone from ok to good to great.

Woo new book yeah! Dark fantasy mercenary justice team lets go baby!!

So I started skimming over the tedious parts. It's a pretty good book but everything happens sooooo slowly especially in the middle. My god. So many faceless villians plotting then being surprised by the Charisians and our android hero. Over and over and over... This book would make a wonderful 500-pager.

Pages and pages and pages of boring, boring, boring! The supply lines of timber, copper, iron and other materials used to make upgraded 16th-century weapons... good god make it stop. Just get to the inevitable low-tech vs extra-low-tech sea battles in this "sci-fi" book. What a slough. Too much detail, I don't see what it adds to the story. blegchh!

The author repeats ideas over and over. It's sorta like: "The car is big. The car was bigger than medium-sized cars. To a small car, the car was relatively huge." but instead of simple sentences it's huge paragraphs. Maybe it was purposeful?

Wow David Weber takes us through ALL the details. Still enjoying the book tho
