I've had this one in my possession for a long time. It is definitely a potential 5 star book. A.A. Attanasio's writing is vivid and visceral, using just the right amount of words. The future setting is dirty, grim... and the main character is complex and deeply flawed. I had a feeling this one was going to be great, possibly one of my top 10 ever. We'll see!

Ok Vlad the warlock assassin with a drake familiar, let's go assassinate a former dragon council member with witchcraft and sorcery! ho!

It's fun to read a book that slowly reveals it's sci-fi concepts. The author is dropping hints of time-travel and other concepts that make me want to read and discover exactly what is happening. So far it's a fast-paced and interesting read!

There's some interesting stuff going on here. It's not a normal fantasy/hero's journey type, but has the framework of such a story... I wish the villan(s)'s motives were more clear. Hmm....

this year I would often wonder which book I’d be reading when my daughter was born, and this was it, unexpectedly, as she was born 6 weeks early. I had a corny idea of me showing her this book in the future and she actually thinking it’s interesting. Fitting that this one is about abandoning one life and starting a completely new, with unexpected results

So we're meeting all the characters in little mini-chapters before they all meet each other in the distant past? That's cool. It reminds me of Hyperion in style... speaking of hype, I hope this lives up to the hype. TIME will tell!! Buaha!

Excellent space opera stuff here. This could be 5-stars if the ending pays off, however, it is a book one so we'll see........
