This book is basically 14 hours about our country being "founded" on horrible genocide and rape. It's... a lot to listen to while working. Capitalism and colonialism= super bummer.

This is like 14 hours long- so I won’t finish it until tomorrow.

So far not as good as the last book I read.

I’m 1/4 of the way through and although I’m enjoying it. I feel like I should have checked out the other books first? There’s lots of referencing short hand to their other works as well as other books on disabilities I have yet to read. I feel super uninformed.

Already teared up twice and had to stop working while listening. This book is so powerful. Really resonating with me. I need to go to sleep though. Will finish tomorrow.

Back to The Body is not an Apology. It's the next audiobook that's due back to the library. I'm basically listening to books on intersectionality about ableism, fat phobia, racism, gender, and sexuality. I'm also listening to books on chronic pain and CPTSD. You know- some light reading?

On the surface, it shouldn’t have been a big deal: he said yes, I said yes, therefore everything was consensual. The problem is, had I known about asexuality, I would have said no. It felt like a wrong had occurred, even though there was no one to blame. And that is hermeneutical injustice.

Stopping at Part 3 Chapter 7 for dinner before coming back for work. A little over half way done and enjoying this. Really good read so far about intersectionality and asexuality for disability, race, compulsary sexual culture, etc.

The truth of the gender inequality in sexual freedom, and the importance of teaching women to honor their sexual desires, has distorted into the belief that female sexual liberation only looks like one thing–and that’s the opposite of what women’s lives looked like before. Overcorrection doesn’t solve the problem. It only redistributes the shame and the stigma.

If aces make a big deal out of being ace and demand to be recognized, if we have created groups of our own, it is because we want a place away from sexual pressure. If we fight for visibility and change, it is because we want that pressure to be lifted for others too.

If there we no compulsory sexuality, aces would not need a community for support. It would not be so meaningful for aces to find each other and realize that we're ok. Any visibility we have is, in some ways, a reminder that compulsory sexuality exists and that it affects more than us, that it can punish anyone seems to deviate from the expected.

Need to return to my shit and feel less like an alien orbiting around humans. Thankful I have some ace stuff to listen to while I work.

I'm not a fan and can't recommend unless you are a teenage girl who probably hasn't experienced burn out yet. I really don't know who this book is for. Everything is so dumbed down for the audience to understand VERY BASIC concepts and then things are said like "the patriarchy, UGH" over and over and over again. I'm literally finishing the book to finish it at this point. Just. Wow.

Just hit the weight chapter. So far, I'm not impressed with this book.

There's a skip the line function apparently w/ the Calgary library's digital section, but then you only get a week to read it. Making this the book I will most likely start and finish today.
