"Though we are all born with a certain kind of body that the dominant culture calls our “sex,” no one is born as a boy or girl, a woman or a man; rather, we are all assigned to a gender and come to identify (or not) with that gender through a complex process of socialization."

Stopping here for tonight. So far: Rockefellers, Harrimans, A G Bell, Carnegies, Jefferson, Madison Grant, Taft, Theodore Roosevelt, and Margaret Sanger have been mentioned now amongst so many others in positions of power that ALL WERE INVOLVED. Seriously getting War Against The Weak flashbacks. Waiting for Kellogg to drop. ha

I'm in for another long one. Starting out strong mentioning Cold Spring Harbor and Rockefellers. Harkening back to Edwin Black's research on the US eugenics movement.

Chapter 10 start. Ok. I'm hate-finishing this book. The gendered pronouns and the blanket statements implying that all cptsd is due to parental neglect. It's destroying me listening to this crap. Don't get me started on the sexist undertones of gender roles as well. Why is this book so highly rated? yikes.

Taking a break for dinner. I'm like- 50% invested in this book. It's going to get my lowest rating of the year so far. Author is extremely narrow- minded in thinking.

Will finish tomorrow. I don’t know why I thought this book would be less about European history than it is, but that’s all that it has been so far.
