I am almost to the end. I have such mixed emotions about this novel. I am at the point that I hear myself saying, it should have ended already. It is the book that never ends. Very tragic as well. I am hoping it wraps with a happy final outcome.

Baek Isak is truly a wonderful character.

What interesting characters. Thus far, Baek Isak is so wonderful, compassionate and understanding. He is turning into one of my favorites quickly.

One chapter in and I am already hooked. One chapter in and I like Min Jin Lee's writing style and how her words seem to flow on the page. I look forward to the character development(character development is one of my favorite parts of any read) of Sunja. As I have been told by others who have read it, I think this is going to be an excellent read.

I've been taking an incredible journey with this novel that, I don't want it to end. However, it's wrapping up nicely so I can't wait to see how it ends. Roya...a character with strength and resilience. She's amazing...

Solid characters.

I am enjoying this novel so far. I've never read a novel that has taken place in Iran. I don't know much of its people and very little of its history but I think this novel will enlighten me. Character development so far is good.
