Not sure after 30 pages I'm liking this one ....seems to repeating the same sentence with all sister characters.....I'll keep trying but if not I'm moving on...

Enjoyable this far. Growing up in NJ, I was familiar with the case of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping. Commercial for a 70's tv movie of the week frightened me so much as a kid that I always slept with the covers over my head with a peep whole to breathe (😔). Silly to think of it now but that case was made of nightmares.

This story focuses on the real nanny, Betty Gow By mixing historical facts with fiction.

I believe, I misidentified the main character of this novel. To me the main character is Abbi, the grandmother. Her story is the main focus of this novel. The granddaughter Milia is totally secondary.

As I turn from page to page, Abbi's story becomes more and more revealed. Her love for Johan is unconditional but because they are from different backgrounds their story does not have a happy ending.

It is very rare when I don't like the main character of a novel. In fact, I don't ever recall not liking the main character but there is a first time for everything. I don't like Milla. I find her annoying, fickle, paranoid and completely distrusting. She worries if her fiancé is cheating on her but has no problems lusting after a man she just met. Only sticking with it to find out what happened to her Grandmother.
