Soooooo much is happening. Some nice reveals and progression of the plot. I think I know in what direction this is going and I'm actually pretty jazzed about it.

I love Hal as a main character.
He's always so kind and has a genuine curiosity about everything that is so fun 💙

I keep calling/thinking of the neighbor as Mark, but it's not Mark, it's Matthew. Sorry, Matthew 😏

This is like a modernized Hitchcock and I'm really enjoying it. I love all the different character perspectives because I feel like it is adding so much to the logic of the plot. IMO, this is really well done.

This is so sweet and wholesome, but it also is a great examination of a lot of relevant IRL-issues. I feel like a lot of Readers will be able to connect with this.

This is soooo good.
I love how intriguing it is because there is a lot of mystery surrounding Deka's true nature/purpose, as well as other characters like White Hands and her shapeshifting pet that I'm sort of picturing as a cat-dragon.
Is this only a duology? I need to do some research. Luckily, I have the second book so can start it immediately!

I'm loving the training aspect of this as the cohert of girls learn how to become warriors. That's always a theme I enjoy in fiction of this type. Deka is learning so much about herself, but I'm also anxious for her to get into the archives/library, so she can learn more about her Mom and maybe her own powers.

This is definitely a harsh world.
I like that we are getting to learn about it at the same pace as Deka.
What's new to us is pretty much new to her as well.
Also, glad she has Britta so she isn't completely alone anymore.

This book is an absolute joy to read.
The investigation is so fun and I love that Uncle Nat is now getting involved. The setting on the train is perfect as well. Very Murder on the Orient Express, minus the murder!
