I don't know the full reason behind her motivations to be such a wench in the first book, but I guess it was all to secure the position of her kingdom, which makes sense. Also, very intrigued by Hans!

I am flying through this and really enjoying it.
The characters are fun and I think Blake is setting up the world nicely. There are a lot of different directions the story could go.
Of course it is giving me The Magicians vibes too, which is a plus.

I love this set-up.
The group of kids, who have a significant event in their childhoods come back to haunt them. Getting back together after 20+ years to figure everything out. It's like giving me It vibes, or even Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi, but instead of supernatural events, it's an Action Thriller.
