Well I'm only semi-annoyed. Who fakes eye exams to skip wearing glasses? SERIOUSLY!?! I admit I'm biased because I've been wearing glasses since first grade. Also the only nerds wear glasses trope needs to die. Plz k thx. I say this as a nerd too.

So this is an inter-library loan (this book is from the palms spring library, which is a bit away from here), so I don't get a renewal on this one. I have three weeks to get this one read. It has a bit priority now.

This book will be very beneficial to my healing process. :D

She references Freud, which is kinda amusing. I do find Freud's theories interesting, but I don't put that much stock into them. I prefer Jung, but I wouldn't call that modern psychology, I like his stuff for more spiritual reasons, not gonna lie lol.

I actually don't mind the LOTR obvious influence. It IS a lot more readable, imho, then LOTR.

I can see why this was made into a movie. This has hollywood thriller-action blockbuster written into it. I feel like I'm reading a book adaptation of a movie then the other way around. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

This book is really fascinating.

Delia is waaay too nice to Matthew, imho. Dump his ass, girl. You can be sympathetic but don't sacrifice yourself for that asshole.

Just for the record I am shipping Delia/Aaron, because her betrothed, Matthew, is a bit of a petulant man-child.

This book is EVERYTHING I love. A gothic romance, a love triangle that I don't loathe by default, a MC that I don't hate, so far no smut/no rape (so it's not a bodice ripper, as far as I can see), and a slight hint of haunted house.
