Jean louise just heard some of the meeting of racist hate with Atticus and Hank in attendance, and it has rocked her world.

Enjoying it so far, even if I really don't know those games and contests from the 80s. The concepts and thought processes all seem familiar, and the dystopian aspect feels relevant in the present day.

So we've got just one thing in our circle of control: our mind! Not our friends or siblings or parents or spouses or even our own frail bodies. "So mind it."

Somehow this was the biggest vote getter in our little book club of all the 100 books in the Great American Read list. I'm definitely excited to read it, given that I enjoyed Cline's _Armada_ last year, but am still surprised that 3 others in our group said they were interested in reading it. Looking forward to seeing how it goes! I'm just a few pages in and already enjoying the references to things like Ghostbusters

After just finishing TKAM and reading a bunch of reviews of this book that were all over the map, I'm pretty curious about what my own reaction will be. While I enjoyed TKAM, I identified pretty closely with critics who noted that the characters there are closer to 2-D than most in real life.

More clever themes complete, like 'time out' w answers like 'let the goods roll' and 'finding nemo' w letters from 'nemo' consecutive in the answer but scrambled (eg 'lunch_eonm_eat').

I had started this just before my xmas break time, then Chris&I listened in the car going to and from Fairmont but got less than half through so we've been listening the past couple days in the house and will probably finish today. I know that I had at least seen the latter part of the movie but I don't recall having read the book. It's been a good story and I understand how it was the top book on PBS's book series.

What you can get from the title; starting how to xray a book; comparing books to houses (either well or poorly built, etc).
