This book is impossible to put down. Only King's second novel, his imagination AND his skill are equally matched, the result being a fascinating, sprawling and effortlessly easy to read vampire epic that has not lost any of its potency over time.

So I decided this year that I would like to begin reading ALL of King's books, in publication order. Carrie is one of my favourite movies. Carrie is also Stephen King's debut. It's Halloween season. No brainer. I didn't expect to love this book so damn much, it's incredible and bittersweet and I think it's only going to enhance my love for this author AND the movie.

This is no masterpiece. Heck, it's probably not even very good, but it's somehow so charming and whimsical (no one ever talks about the whimsy in Brooks work), I can't help but enjoy it.

This is not the best of the books by far, but it has its moments.
