The scene Shelley sets for hearing the story- a dark ship cabin on a stormy sea- is freakin' creepy.

Had some of the most fun last year reading Libriomancer, and said I'd read the other Jim C. Hines book on my TBR before continuing the series.

This was also in my recs while i was reading Helen and Troy's Epic Road Quest. Good sign (maybe. This is Goodreads we're talking about).

January 1st marked two-hundred years since this book's anonymous publication.
In honor of that milestone, I'm going to make it my first classic of the year- read entirely of my own free will! I'm a horror fan going a long way back and I'm embarrassed how much of it I've still yet to experience.

Shooting for a classic every other month (no recs I know which ones) :)

I know I dragged del Toro for this, but I actaully am reminded of Pan's Labyrinth. I can actually see the influence both writers have on the story.

The MC's best friend in Kraus novels always make you want companion books. Foley in Rotters was way into Sabbath, and Tub just called the bully an asshat.

ATTENTION: If you're seeing this in your update feed, it's by Daniel Kraus AND Guillermo del Toro. I love del Toro's work, but this was not written entirely by him and it kinda drives me nuts that Daniel Kraus (whose book Rotters is one of my favorites of all time) can't get top billing, AND that GR can't get its shit enough together to list two authors in feeds.

Anyway. First read of 2018! Excited. 2nd Kraus.

Every now and then I'll be on here, or scrolling on Instagram, and I'll see someone just LOSING their shit over their favorite book or series. Yakking about characters, lines, theories, additions, etc, and it's usually stuff I have no intention of reading.
But, still, I think : this is good.
Because people being happy about books makes me happy, no matter what :)

It should be pretty obvious who i missed the most, but Legolas and Gimli showed up to remind me how hard I fell for them in Isengard, so now i'm actually thinking it was them.

The Blood Of Imuriv: Meh. Two stars. Not terrible but nothing great.
The Evil Vaccine: Two stars. Snort-worthy, not in a good way. A booktuber is a subpar writer. I'm stunned.

Eh, was hoping for no kissy-kissy, but it's less stupid here than in many other books I've read.
