THE PACING IN THIS BOOK.
"I became the Supreme Leader 17 days ago."
"Our relationship began 19 days ago."
"Oh, the biggest event in the world is in 2 days."
I'M NEARLY HALFWAY THROUGH AND NOTHING HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
Also, the author is just using alternating POVs to continue to focus on the main character. What even is the point?

Every time Juliette is referred to as 'supreme commander', I instinctively roll my eyes. How? Okay, wrong question - WHY?

And, to the surprise of no one, Nazeera talks like literally every other character.
