Opposition

Rate this book
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

5 STARS and believe me I would rate in more if I could.

First of all I can't describe how GREAT this series is.Mind blowing. It has everything. Action ,romance ,fun ,jokes ,tense moments, everything. The characters fit with the story perfectly. Also the story never gets boring. The chemistry between characters... amazing!

Me while reading the book:

“What the hell, man?” Dawson exploded, hands flying up. “I was on level sixty-nine of Candy Crush, you bastard. Do you know how hard that—?”

Mountain View

“We were supposed to have tonight and tomorrow, and many weeks and months, but we didn't have even another minute.”

Mountain View

“It's like you have a special skill when it comes to finding condoms. Seriously. They must fall out of the sky whenever you're around.”

Mountain View

And the ending was terrific. It made sense and it was nothing as I expected. The epilogue was one of the best parts of the book.It was funny and it ended the book perfectly.

Mountain View

I can't tell how much I dig this series. It goes beyond the words.I highly recommend it, it's my all time favorite series and believe if I could wash up my brain to read this again I would in a breathe.I am so sure that I won't get over this one for a long long time , I mean how can I ? It's freaking PERFECT.

After Reading: Review to come!!

OMG!! If has a cover!! Finally! And I love it!!!!

Okay according to JLA:

- "DB" was left behind in Vegas in Origin. But he may make an appearance again.
- Archer and Dee are together in Opposition.
- Blake is really dead. Like, dead dead dead.
- What would be the mix between an Origin and Luxen? A: pretty badass
- You will find out in Opposition why Daemon didn’t reply to Katy in the end
- Katy’s mom will be back for Opposition
- *Spoiler for Opposition* The Luxen that invaded Earth, have never been around people before.
- Obsession sets up Opposition.
- Some Origins escaped during the diversion.
- Hunter and his brothers will be in Opposition.
- Daemon and Katy will NOT have a baby in Opposition. One baby is enough!
- In Opposition you will find out Luc and Paris’ connection
- In Opposition you will find out who the girl is that Luc was protecting in Opal.
- Mica will come back in Opposition
- Origins will be in the next book
- There will be a war in Opposition
- Opposition will be the longest book in the series.
- Chris (Blake’s friend) is Dead dead dead dead
- JLA always planned for Matthew’s betrayal
- *Spoiler* All the Origins are male, and born singles.
- You will find out whether or not Katy blogs again in Opposition

OMG!! Apparently we got a quote from Opposition I think and it just makes me want to have the book even more. So here is the quote I found:

“Katy

I always had this plan for the off chance I was around for the end of the world. I’d climb up on my roof top, turn up the radio, blast R.E.M.’s It’s The End of The World, and watch it all go down from my lofty perch.

Except real life rarely turned out that cool.

And it was really happening—it was the end of the world as we knew it, and I sure as hell didn’t feel fine.

Everything had changed and we had been the catalyst for it all.”

I had one of the happiest moments of my life when I found out that the fifth book was going to be in Katy's and Daemon's POV and that it already had a title. I was dancing around in joy, but then my eyes fell on the date 2014 and I felt like ripping someone's throat out. Okay maybe not that extreme but I still really wanted to punch something. 2014 is so far and I so want the book right now. Origin had an awful cliffhanger which left me confused and depressed. I thought the cliffhanger for Opal was bad but Origin was completely and totally awful. Actually awful is too good of a word for it. I really want this book to come out faster. In other words I need this book NOW!!!!!! I really need more of Daemon and Katy.

4.5 Save the World stars!

 photo b1643796-db2e-4b95-8c74-ce4e669637df_zps333479c6.jpg

This is one of those epically awesome series. There is just no other way to describe it. When I first picked up Obsidian, I had no idea what to expect. I read paranormal ya every now and then, but it’s not my genre of choice. Still, I gave it a go. I was hooked. I loved everything about Daemon and Katy. All 5 of these books were captivating and hilarious reads full of action, humor, suspense and love.

Opposition starts off right where Origin left off… Daemon, Katy and friends trying to save the world thats been invaded. Who can they trust? Those they thought would never betray them have gone to the dark side, and those that have always been enemies have now come to their aide. It’s a hot mess. Through it all, Katy and Daemon have each other. Daemon’s love will never change.

 photo 4a111281-da93-4b94-ab0c-bc8b109c0d4e_zps02ac8a3f.jpg

Daemon and his Kitten have to be one of my favorite book couples ever. They have the best back and fourth banter. Both of them are so funny, but really sweet and romantic too. Daemon Black. Oh sweet alien babies I love him! He is one of my favorite ya book boyfriends. Every time I hear him say Kitten, I melt. I love the way he loves Katy. He thinks the world of her and he’s not afraid to show it.
“You’ve got a big heart, Kitten. That’s what I love about you most. Well, that and I am a really big fan of your sweet body, but your heart? Yeah, that completes the package of you, wraps it up with a nice little bow. It makes you perfect to me.”

 photo 23d2456a-fc55-4178-9e55-55814fbd5631_zpsa87d0c0f.jpg

It’s not just the main characters I love, there are quite a few secondary characters that are equally amazing! I really love Archer! And of course Dee and Dawson.

This review is going to be much shorter than normal for me, because this is a story you don’t want to have spoiled. Not even a little bit. There are so many awesome twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat most of the book. I laughed a lot, I even cried some. I’m feeling a little sad that this series has come to an end. I’m really going to miss Daemon Black and Kat.

If you haven’t read this series yet, all 5 books are out so now you have no excuse. It is my #1 paranormal ya series. Daemon Black is unforgettable and Katy is an awesome book nerd. Their love is something special and this series is just fantastic! Do yourself a favor and pick them up! ♥

We were together. It didn’t matter how many hours, days, months or years we had stretched out in front of us; we’d always be together. This kind of love was the real deal.

wow. i cant believe this is over. just wow. if you had told me a week or so ago that i would enjoy obsess over a series about an alien boy and a human girl, i would have called you crazy. but this series is soooo much more than that.

and so, at the end of 11 days, 5 books, and 1 entertaining story, i have two things on my mind:

1. where in the world (or any other worlds, for that matter) can i get myself a daemon black?! because i need one. hes such a babe and im so in love. and,

2. WHAT DID THE NOTE SAY!?!?!?!?! gahhh. i swear this will haunt me for the rest of my life.

anyways, i already cant wait to reread this. pretty sure thats normal. 🙃

I **NEED** THIS BOOK!!!!! I THOUGHT OPAL'S CLIFFHANGER WAS BAD, BUT IT'S GOT NOTHING ON THE STATE OF NEED AND DESPERATION THAT ORIGIN HAS LEFT ME IN!!!! I AM NOT KIDDING!!!! I AM UNCOMFORTABLY CLOSE TO HUDDLING IN A CORNER AND ROCKING. JENNIFER, WHY? I THOUGHT YOU LOVED YOUR READERS, WHY WOULD YOU TORTURE US THIS WAY?!?!

Why is 2014 so far away...... I need a freakin' time machine!!!

Jennifer L. Armentrout: "I will also confirm this: The last two books in the series that are currently untitled are in dual POVs (Daemon and Katy). There you go."

“I'm game for anything with you, Daemon Black.”

That's it.The series that made me put aside my truest love after books (that would be sleep),that occupied my every thought for a week, that made me an antisocial madwoman mumbling about aliens,is over.Kat and Daemon's story is over.

“It didn't matter how many hours, days, months,or years we had stretched out in front of us;we'd always be together. This kind of love was the real deal, stronger than a whole planet full of psycho aliens and an entire government.”

Oh,holy llama drama,it hurts.Kat,Daemon,Dee,Archer,Dawson,Luc,they were my friends,my companions,I felt with them and fought and cried and loved. From Petersburg and Area 51 to Las Vegas and the Arum lair,I was with them, followed them as their story unfolded, from the first moment Kat met Daemon in her My Blog is better than your Vlog shirt to the alien invasion and the inevitable and heartbreaking choices they had to make. They're family.

When I started reading Obsidian,I thought it would be another paranormal love story, but I was wrong. It was so much more.As the plot thickened and the tension increased,as unexpected deaths occured and Kat and Deamon proved again and again how much they love each other,I found a safe haven,a shelter from reality. And while their story had painful and infuriating and frustrating moments,it was beautiful.Opposition felt like I was watching a badass science fiction movie with the Earth in the verge of Apocalypse and the good guys working with their enemies in order to survive and save mankind from enslavement and extinction.Relationships were tested, unholy alliances were forged and the events that started when Dawson fell in love with a human reached their crescendo with Kat and Deamon's otherwordly and wonderful love.
“Everything had changed and we had been the catalyst for it all.”

I absolutely recommend this series to everyone who enjoys romance with paranormal elements and kickass battles, and I hope you will love Lux as much as I did!

Back in the day, I had this plan for the off chance that I was around for the whole end-of-the-world thing. It involved climbing up on my roof and blasting R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World as We Know it (And I Feel Fine)" as loud as humanly possible, but real life rarely turns out that cool.

It was happening-everything about the world as we knew it was ending, and it sure as hell did not feel fine. Or Cool.

The Luxen invasion happened. =(

and things changed for everyone.

People were being killed left and right. Daemon, Dawson and Dee were taken away to go with the leader. Katy, Archer and Beth were left to try to stay alive.

But Daemon made his way back. They all eventually did. Took Dee awhile as she was brainwashed the most.

And there were still some funny tidbits in the book. I love when a book can throw in some funny moments.

Archer sighed like a petulant teenager stuck in a car for too long. There was a beat of silence. "Are we there yet?"

Daemon groaned. "I'm going to sew your damn lips together."

********

Well, shit balls for dinner on Sunday.

I'm going to have to remember and use that last one =)

And lo and behold, they team up with some of the enemy alien friends, the Arum. I love Hunter, he was my favorite Arum. Their leader was a crackpot =D

We have some show downs with the alien races and the human mutants. Some people get killed that made me sad.

But the ending made me so happy. Everyone together that mattered for the most part. And a new edition, Ashley. That's all I'm saying party people.

Happy Reading!

5–HEART-POUNDING, INTENSE, AND AMAZING–Stars

description

I can't think of the last time a book had me sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and holding my breath. Opposition captivated and enthralled me from the first heart-pounding page to the last. I LOVED IT!

I am so sad to see this series eqnd. I have LOVED watching Katy's and Daemon's characters grow and mature over the course of the books.

Katy began this series as a lovable and strong character who was obstinate, and sometimes even pigheaded. By the final book, she'd grown into a stronger, more lovable, admirable, resilient, and courageous version of herself. She ended up one of the best YA female leads I've read to date.

As for Daemon, well, he'll always be his arrogant, lovable, sarcastic, loyal, charming, and egoistical self. But he's also not the same stubborn, human-snubbing boy who first opened his door to Katy and treated her so horribly. He grew into a man that acknowledged some of his beliefs were wrong and PROVED he would do ANYTHING for the woman he loved.

For me, the area I felt Katy and Daemon grew the most was in their gradual realization that they were stronger together than apart. By the fourth book they were a solid team and knew their greatest strength and power was in relying on each other. Their complex and awesome relationship was what I loved the most about the Lux series.

I can't end my review without expressing how grateful I am I read Obsession, an adult spinoff of this series. Had I not read Obsession, I would have never pick up Obsidian, the first book in the Lux series, and I would have forever missed out on an amazing Young Adult read.

I can wholeheartedly say that I have loved every single second I've spend with Daemon, Katy and the rest of the motley cast of characters. It's always bittersweet to say goodbye to a much loved series, especially one that will forever hold a piece of my heart.

Side Note: As a THANK YOU for Opposition hitting the USA Today Bestseller’s list at number 34 and put the Lux Series on the New York Times YA Series list at number 4 this week, Jennifer Armentrout gave us a taste of Daemon and Kat, a few years after Opposition. I couldn't stop smiling while reading it.

Enjoy!

Such an outstanding conclusion to one of my all-time favorite series. It was all I expected and more and I will definitely miss these characters and the amazing world Jennifer Armentrout has created. I'm sad to see this series end but I couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending and I can guarantee that I will reread the Lux Series at least a million times.

I helped save the planet in this book so… you’re welcome. It was my pleasure to save all of mankind alongside one of my absolute favorite book couples, Daemon Black and Katy Swartz.

"They're up to something big. "Obviously." I smiled faintly. "The whole invading-Earth part kind of gave that away."

description

I never thought I would fall as hard as I did for these characters when I gave the first book of this series a chance. I mean a book about aliens in high school? But it happened and I loved every page of this series, every sarcastic comment by Daemon, every loving word shared between Daemon and Katy and the many other characters that will be just as sorely missed.

description

Daemon and Katy are the perfect book couple that would definitely light up the silver screen if given the opportunity. They face the end of the world, they make alliances with the unexpected and their bond just gets stronger.

description

Even if you’re not a fan of paranormal or young adult genres give this series a shot. Jennifer Armentrout thank you for the laughs, the love, the electric kisses, the nonstop action and the possibilities of the unknown that were written so wonderfully that all the scenes were so vivid and bright!

Once again conclusion to series (that I love) written by JLA did not satisfy me. Was it because I outgrew this series? Was it the lack of essential "something" that was present in previous instalments but not in this one? Or was it the fact that both POVs merged in and I found myself confused numerous times about whose POVs I was reading? I think it was mixture of all three things. I enjoyed banters (it is Daemon after all) but overall I didn't like this book because it didn't reached the level of awesomeness from previous instalments.

I FINALLY finished this series! While I didn't enjoy this last book at all compared to the first one in the series, I will always love Katy and Daemon as characters. This series could been much more effective as a trilogy and I love/hate all the Twilight parallels (I really can't decide if they are genius or obnoxious). I think the story got too big for the world ultimately but I am glad I stuck with it and finished it. Jennifer's writing is addictive and hilarious as always and I'm excited to venture off into some of her other work!

It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

Yes, the world has beyond doubt changed
BUT
Katy does NOT feel fine.

Daimon has picked a side and abandoned her.
Or this is what Katy thinks.

“Kat.” He uttered my name like it was some kind of prayer, and then he pressed a kiss against the skin behind my ear. “I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me. I … burned down an entire city to keep you safe. I’ve killed for you. Did you think I’d forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world— in any world— would be stronger than my love for you?”

Deep sigh...

Soon, there will be a reunion. It won't be a happy reunion.

Daemon is stressed, scared for Katy and he tries unsuccessfully to look evil.
Dawson is stressed, scared for pregnant Beth and he tries unsuccessfully to look evil also.
Dee is peaceful, content and she looks evil successfully.

All hell will break lose in Las Vegas and before Daemon and Katy realise what they have done, they will be out of the frying pan into the fire and now human soldiers will be their new guards.

And before they can mumble “Luc what are you doing with Nancy?”, it is about time for them to meet the Arum and their psycho leader Lotho. By the way his comparison to Loki, I thought it was just brilliant!

Who are finally the bad guys?
The Luxen?
The humans?
The Arum?

And moreover:
Who is human?
Who is Luxen?
Who is Origin?

You cannot really tell.
All around a post-apocalyptic scenario plays out and the only thing missing are the zombies.
Thankfully and strangely, you can still find toilet paper at the supermarket.

This is an amazing book that it could be easily a Hollywood’s blockbuster film or a successful TV series.
I had such fun with this series and I would really love more books from this world.

'OPPOSITION' is the fifth and final book in Jennifer L. Armentrout's 'Lux' series. It picks up where the previous book left off.

What a bittersweet feeling when I closed out of that last page. I was happy with the ending, all my favourite characters survived but I was sad that I had to say goodbye. I feel like they are a part of me, I've been reading this series back to back loving every single moment of it. The heartache, the losses, the love, the angst, the tears, so many feels, so many times my heart literally stopped beating. A whirlwind of emotions.

And god I loved Archer!! His mind reading, the back and forth jabs between him and Daemon. My most favorite book characters to date!!

I can finally and honestly say that I now have 5 PNR books behind me and I'm just going to keep increasing that number!!

Thank you to ALL the people who recommended this series to me!! It only took me like years and months to get to it!! But I am so glad I pulled up those big girl panties and jumped on this all in the name of challenging myself!! Yet again I am so thankful I took the plunge!!

5 for 5!! 5 Books/each with 5 stars!! Unheard of!!

REVIEW:

I’m bawling my eyes right at this very moment, because this series is over and lemme just tell you that it ended PERFECTLY. Opposition is absolutely top-notch fangirling material, set to conclude one of the most addictive stories by raising the bar on sexiness, action, heartbreak and pure, unloaded fun. It was everything I could’ve hoped for and then some – I completely loved it.

“Kitten?”
“Yeah?”
His eyes were beautiful when they met mine, luminous and clear, and a long moment stretched out between us. “I love you.”

At the end of Origin, we could see that things were going south pretty quickly. But the “little” stunts our favorite gang pulled in the last book are in no way at the scale of epicness from this one, because shit just hit the fan in Opposition. World domination. Alien invasion. Dystopia setting. Apocalypse loading. You know, the usual holy shit stuff.

One of the reasons this series is so worth reading is the characters. Intense, realistic, strong characters. Katy Swarz, ex-book blogger extraordinaire and current alien hybrid with serious mojo, is a tough chick that you can't help than admire. Stubborn, kind, determined and definitely badass, I loved that she still found the power to simply smile and joke in the midst of all that's going on. She proved countless times that she's a selfless, caring person that would do anything to protect the ones she loves and that kind of strength is always awe-inspiring. She's had to go through some awful stuff and now she fights to end it all and make herself a future.

Daemon Black is still the king of swoons, sarcasm-dripping lines and alpha-male behavior. The magnitude of his feelings for Katy is unbelievable and I had to remind myself that he's just fictional, because otherwise I would order a Daemon Black right at my doorstep. Oh, and he brings out the big guns on smoking hotness that will have you blush in a can't-get-that-goofy-smile-off-my-face kind of way. And the romantic declarations will swoop you off your feet, cause they're at a whole new level. The same alien eye candy with very mischievous thoughts and horribly arrogant attitude, only this time he's all grown up. Watch out, cause you're about to love him even more (if that's even possible).

“I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me. I married you and burned down an entire city to keep you safe. I’ve killed for you. Did you think I’d forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world—in any world—would be stronger than my love for you?”

Katy and Daemon are a sizzling pair. Their romance will have your heart singing sappy songs only because you cannot picture them apart. They're intense and completely crazy about each other. Lovestruck. And the best thing is that they make one another better, always ready to fight whatever life throws their way if they're in it together. Awww, I just love them. *happy sigh*

“I had it with Daemon, but I wondered if we looked as love-struck as they did.
“You do,” Archer commented softly.
Ah, well, that was kind of embarrassing.
“Yes, it is,” he added.

Now I need to make a confession. Since Daemon has to be with Katy because they're so perfect together -- not that I would say no to his alien hotness -- I have to state, loud and clear, that freaking Archer is mine to the hell and back, lol. When I remember that we've only met him in the fourth book and that he's only a secondary character -- granted, a pretty important one -- the fact that my love for him knows no bounds shocks me every time. He's compassionate, realistic, deadly and smoking hot. Not to mention down-right hilarious. His bickering with Daemon cracked me up, but you could see they are on their way to becoming good and close friends. Just imagine: smartass comments to the millionth power. Katy actually said it best:

“You know what I think?” She lowered her voice as if she were sharing a secret. “I think you do like Archer, and you just don’t want to admit that you’re in the beginning stages of a bromance to end all bromances.”

And seriously now, I love anyone who can make Daemon jealous over such trivial things like a hug or a candy bar. *giggles*

“I stood where I was, telling myself that the ugly heat invading my veins was indigestion and not jealousy. Totally not that, because Archer had nothing on me.
But did he need to hug her that long? And that hard? Come the hell on."

But there's no worry regarding a possible Katy + Archer outcome, maybe only a wonderful friendship, because the guy is completely smitten with Dee. Romance overload, show me what you've got. These two are just totes adorbs together.

“I wonder if I can get Dee to make me some,” Archer replied casually, ignoring Daemon. “You know, when she’s not on Team Kill Everyone.”
“She won’t make you any chicken,” Daemon retorted.
“Oh, she’ll make me fried chicken.” Archer laughed deeply. “She’ll make me all the chicken I want.”

Speaking of Dee, she was in a bad place most of this book and I was deeply hurt to see how it affected her once it all came crashing down. But she's still her sweet, kind and all-around great self and I'm glad she has Archer to protect and spoil her.

I looooved Luc. The kid is weird, but good-weird. Sure, he can be creepy and scary when he wants to be, but when he's all rainbows and sunshine? Overwhelmingly cute. Although what saddened me most was how lonely he truly was. I wished Katy just hugged the heck outta him once in a while, because being freakishly intelligent and a powerful mastermind must be exhausting at some point. But he's awesome and funny like no other and I'm glad he got accepted into the crew just like another family member.

Dawson & Beth are still very much in the picture, thank the gods since I couldn't have handled any other deaths. I missed them a bit, especially Dawson, but they got their own little problem to worry about so I was okay with knowing they're safe and sound somewhere far away from the heat of the fight.

A shocking turn of events had us meeting up with Hunter, Serena and Lore and I was more than happy to catch up with them for a bit. Unlikely allies, but in the end a strong proof that Arum and Luxen could be, you know… friends.

“Here?” Archer asked.
He nodded with a tight smile. “Why else do you think I suggested the airport? It’s not like I like to hang out here.”
“How were we supposed to know?” Daemon responded, eyeing the manhole like it was the last thing he wanted to climb into. Ditto. “You’re an Arum, so . . .”
“I really was hoping you’d drop that damn attitude by now.”
Daemon smirked. “Kiss my ass.”
“No, thank you.”

Oh, I almost forgot the cherries on the top. Lotho, you're crazy, but I like you. Nancy Husher, Sadi and Ethan Smith -- eff you all.

Prepare yourself for action, battles and a colossal amount of ass-kicking. To say that Daemon & Co. are badass would be an understatement. This little enlarged family became a team that supported each other, sacrificed for one another and protected everyone at any cost. Honestly, I felt like a proud mamma to see those babies take on the world with their eyes set on a future. They’re determined, selfless and down-right awesome.

“Luxen, by nature, are arrogant.”
“Gee, really?” I muttered.
One side of his lips kicked up in a sexy, smug half grin as Archer snickered.
“Origins are probably more arrogant, you know,” Daemon said. “The borderline stupid kind of arrogant.”
The smirk faded from Archer’s face.”

But there’s also heartbreak in store for them so you might shed a few tears. There was a certain moment when my eyes glazed over, got all teary-eyed and made me shake my head in vehement denial. The scene did stupid, cruel things to my heart and it opened the floodgates, as I was about to go shouting to the whole world that “LIFE IS FREAKING UNFAIR!”. That part, short-lived as it was, pretty much crushed me.

Then there’s the epilogue that had my cheeks hurting from smiling so much and my heart completely satisfied. I was doing a happy dance at how things played out, because these beloved characters of mine got the ending they deserved after hard and gut-wrenching experiences. I was so so proud and happy for them. *sniff*

And I’ll miss them so damn much. *full on sobbing*

So here we are, at the end of another astounding series. In this last installment, I fell all over again for the awesomeness that is Daemon Black, cheered Katy as she evolved into this kick-ass young woman, devoured every word about the rest of the crew, laughed my ass off uncountable times and had my heart leaping from my chest at every threat. Opposition was well worth the wait and the jazz went down in pure JLA fashion – truly unputdownable, swoon-worthy, hilarious and action-packed. If you’re afraid to read it, have no fear – it’s glorious. If you haven’t started this series yet, then I seriously don’t know what the hell are you waiting for.

“This kind of love was the real deal, stronger than a whole planet full of psycho aliens and an entire government.”

Oh, man. I guess there’s one last thing that needs to be said…

Thank you, Jennifer, for creating one of the best stories out there.
Thank you, Jennifer, for allowing us to embark on this journey.
Thank you, Jennifer, for making me fall in love with your incredible and amazing characters.
Thank you, Jennifer, for making me cry, laugh out loud, swoon off my feet, smile from ear to ear and cheer.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. It has been wonderful from start to finish.

ENJOY! <3

P.S.
Basically Archer to Daemon & Katy:

BEFORE READING: HOLY BABY ORIGINS!

I'm already having Daemon Black withdrawals. I thought the ending of Opal was bad, but Origin managed to end in a jaw-dropping way. I'm mind-blown.

I WANT Opposition like yesterday! (By the way, awesome title.)

I NEED to know what happens now! This whole thing is so much bigger than Daemon & Co.!

HOW CAN I WAIT ANOTHER YEAR????

HOOOOOOOW?!?!

And now I'm positive JLA is an evil woman.

Hmph.

Opposition was bittersweet for me, it's the final book in the Lux series. The world is in chaos, between fighting invading aliens and secret government agencies - is there a light at the end of the tunnel for Daemon and Katy?

I knew in that tiny second as we stared each other down that this was the beginning and this was also the end. The Luxen were truly invading.

Katy was such a badass in this book, and of course Daemon had me constantly swooning. I really enjoyed this action-packed conclusion, but it did seem to end quickly. I guess I will always want more. I will miss these characters, the banter, the friendship and the love - it's been an awesome journey. And I really wish Archer would get a book, love him <33

“Kat whipped toward me, her eyes glowing from within. In that moment, she looked like a goddess—a goddess of vengeance.

[Daemon's thoughts:] If we weren’t in the middle of a fight, I’d have you up against a tree right now.”

If I had to compare this finale to food, it would be porridge. It's satisfying, fills your stomach and you can even mix in honey or raisins to sweeten it. But you wouldn't ask for seconds. Not to mention three very angry bears that would be on you faster than you can say, "Goldilocks did it!"

Gimme back my porridge!

Here's a basic rundown of the plot:

Katy: I miss Daemon and his green eyes. Oh, and aliens have invaded our planet.

Bethany: I'm sixteen and pregnant.

Katy: OMG, she's going to have a vampire alien hybrid baby!!

Luc and Archer: Lol, we knew all along.

Katy: SHE HAS TO HAVE PRENATAL VITAMINS!

Luc and Archer: It's really dangerous out there.

Katy: SHE HAS TO HAVE PRENATAL VITAMINS!

Luc and Archer: Lol, okay.

Katy: OMG, there are aliens in the supermarket! And a dude with green eyes! *blacks out*

Dawson: Lol, I may have just paralyzed my sister-in-law with my alien powers. Ooh, level 69 of Candy Crush.

Daemon: I hate this redheaded chick that keeps throwing herself at me. I am immune to freaky alien hive mentality because of true love.

Dee: I AM NOW EVIL BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE TRUE LOVE. *sad face*

Katy: OMG, Dee is evil now! And Daemon is mean!

Daemon: I only did that to protect you. Now come here, sweetcheeks.

Katy: Ugh, redheaded chick is such a slut. I know this because she is pretty.

Explosions! Excitement!

Daemon: Wow, that was close. Wanna have sex?

Katy: Lol, okay.

Archer: I'm back if anyone cares.

Daemon: I hate Archer because he hugged Katy longer than the three-second rule. Wanna have sex, Katy?

Katy: Lol, okay.

Random government official: I AM GOING DESTROY A FEW STATES TO SAVE HUMANKIND.

Katy, OMG, you can't do that! Innocents will die!

Random government official: THEN WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?

Katy: ...The Avengers.

Daemon: I know! Let's use the Secret Weapon.

Katy: OMG, that's perfect!

Daemon: I know I am. Wanna have sex?

Katy: Lol, okay.

Road trip!

Daemon: Wanna have shower sex?

Katy: Lol, okay.

Secret Weapon: I want to have non-penetrative sex with your girlfriend because I enjoy being arbitrary.

Katy: Ew! But okay.

Daemon: Absolutely not! Testosterone level rising...

Katy: I must use my non-virgin flesh for the good of humankind.

Secret Weapon: Haha, you noobs were really going to go through with it! Okay, I'll help you because I enjoy being arbitrary.

Daemon: Whew, that was close! Wanna have sex?

Katy: Lol, okay.

Sense a pattern?

The above makes it seem like I hated Opposition, but I honestly enjoyed it. It's readable, as with all Armentrout's work, has a logical plot that links up with earlier installments and a competent heroine that kicks butt. There's a female friendship scene that could've walked straight out of Frozen and lots of sex.

Too much sex, but that's another matter.

All too often, YA authors have their characters do the dirty once, usually without a condom I may add, and never have them make love again. It comes off as a grandiose display of their never-ending love for each other rather than a normal activity that real-life couples engage in when they're ready. Not Katy and Daemon. They hump like bunnies. Who have access to condoms.

“It's like you have a special skill when it comes to finding condoms. Seriously. They must fall out of the sky whenever you're around.”

But as a person who loved the first three volumes, which were straight-up paranormal romance, this installment pales in comparison. There's an equal distribution between romance and plot, but when you chase two rabbits at once, you're bound to disappoint someone. I vote for more plot; those kids need to have a tighter grasp on their hormones during the apocalypse.

I may rate this book higher in retrospect after I read the whole series in one go, but for now, 3.5 stars.

I read this one via an audio book. I bought the audio so I could listen to it while I worked out. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate and I had to shelf the audio until the weather improved a little.

Since I spread out my listening over a long period of time I will refrain from rehashing the plot. I will say that I'm glad I got to experience this paranormal and I'll miss our crazy little book blogger who had an alien neighborhood. Hard to believe I started this journey with the Lux series in 2012 and now it's over.

AMAZING. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! AH-MAY-ZING! I’m biased (just to let you know) when I say that this book was a fantastic end to a wonderful series! I’ve been a huge Lux fan since book 1 (as well as an Armentrout fan overall) and still am so it’s no surprised that I found this book absolutely wonderful. Like Ms. Armentrout, I too find it bittersweet to see this series end. I’ll keep this review brief-ish since I’m never really good at writing reviews for the last book in a series.

This book finished the series off strong and nice. The book starts off not too long after the ending of the previous book so technically a lot of time hasn’t passed, but a lot did happen (at least on Daemon, Dee, and Dawson’s side). From there, the entire book is an emotional roller coaster ride as there’s confusion about why this person’s doing this, who’s on which side, immediate frustration with characters whom you wish you could kick in their appropriate gender genitals, and sweet, sexy romance.

If there’s one thing I can guarantee you, it’s that the writing is just as good (if not better) than her previous books in the Lux series. You the familiar dialogue between characters as well as the familiar humor you know and love like twerking being essential in help saving the day.
I kid you not, twerking (in some shape/form), helped Kat get out of a tight pickle in the first quarter of the book.

As for the romance and sexy time, Ms. Armentrout makes a good balance between action and romance. She includes enough romance where emotional progress is evidently made while also making sure that it doesn’t completely overshadow the main problem at hand. Now whether that romance is really progression or regression, I won’t say so I don’t spoil it for all y’all who haven’t read/finished reading it yet ;)

Overall, the story was fantastic! I have very few and very minor gripes , but, again, I was happy overall with the end result. I’m absolutely sad to see this series over, but, as they say, all good things must come to an end. Thank you Ms. Armentrout for a wonderful series and characters! I absolutely can’t wait for any new series you may have in the future!

“Did you think I’d forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world—in any world—would be stronger than my love for you?”

*screams in the distance

Nothing can get in the way of Daemon and Kath.

The amount of development, love and passion they have is superb!
I’m crying at how incredible their love is.
One of the main reasons why I loved this series so much.
I just love the dynamic they have, and every time they have a scene together I could feel the love and my heart just burst with so much happiness and I wanted to cry because they are so perfect.

The start of the book got me a bit confused but then everything made sense and I just got so into the story I honestly don’t know what to do now that I’m done.
That’s the problem of reading the last 3 books in last then a week, I honestly have to learn how to savour the books and read slower so I don’t have to say goodbye so fast to amazing fantastic characters that I’m going to miss very much.

I love all of the side characters so much, Dee, Luc, Archer..... and so on. They are so cool and awesome and badass. I’m happy I got to see more of them.
Oh, and Archer and Daemon are just the BROMANCE I didn’t know I need it. *lol

A lot of things that happened I wasn’t expecting and damn I was shocked.
In the first 2 books, the only thing I care about was Daemon and Kath’s relationship but has the series progressed I started to enjoy the world and everything else that these books bring and I’m happy I did.

I’M SO HAPPY THIS WASN’T A SHITTING ENDING. Witch, I was a bit surprised considering that most series have, well, a not very good ending. This one was the opposite, it had a fantastic end, and I could imagine a better one.

But at the same time, I’m sad because IS OVER. (goodbye Daemon my dear adorable beautiful man! I’m going to miss you the most).

(I hate that when I look for a sad supernatural gif, Dean is all that appears, FML).

FAREWELL Lux series! Bye, my babies. My OTP f.o.r.e.v.e.r I’ll reread you in the near future. ❤️

What a thrilling and wonderful conclusion to this series! Although I still think Origin is my favorite book in the series overall, this is a close second.

THE ROMANCE continues to be super swoon-worthy (although still not as explicit as I would like). Daemon has definitely turned over a new leaf and is way more compassionate and kind than he was in the first half of the series. I definitely liked this version of Daemon the best ❤️

THE BEGINNING OF THIS BOOK was done soo well. I really hated the new Luxen characters that were introduced. I felt like JLA did a great job of making them seem inhuman and despicable. And poor Dee... she just keeps getting shafted over and over again (but I'm glad she eventually gets her HEA too)

EVERYTHING CAME TOGETHER in the end and made for a very satisfying conclusion to this long series. Although there is a HEA, there are definitely still some harsh consequences, which I appreciated because it made everything much more realistic. It can be annoying sometimes when happy endings are "too perfect"

I'm trying to keep this review relatively spoiler-free so there's honestly not a whole lot more I have to say. This series had it's ups and downs for me but I'm glad I continued on through the end! I can definitely see why everyone loves Daemon so much, even though I still wouldn't say he's a top-tier book boyfriend for me 😅

Overall, I think the best audience for this book would be teen readers that like romance but don't necessarily want it to be super smutty. I think it would just be more relatable with the heavy high school setting in the first half of the series. If you don't fit into this category, I think you will still enjoy this series, you just probably won't enjoy it quite as much

Opposition is book number five in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. How in the world do I ever do this book or this series justice in a review? I have loved this series from page one of book one. It’s a wonder my heart survived all the action scenes and will any other book couple ever be able to compete with Daemon and Katy? No, I don’t think so. Even though I am saddened to say goodbye to these characters, JLA did a fantastic job in this series conclusion.

“I wasn’t the same girl who had knocked on Daemon’s door, I would probably never be that girl again.”

 photo tumblr_mtglefmFX41sr4mfco1_500_zps01593482.gif

We start right up where the previous book ended, The Luxen have arrived. She, Beth, Archer and Luc are waiting in the cabin for Dee, Dawson and Daemon to return. But they don’t show up. Why haven’t they come back? Where are they? And Katy finds out what everyone else already knew, Beth is pregnant. But, she isn’t doing well at all. There are things she needs, so Katy and Archer head out to the supermarket to pick up some things…maybe not the best decision.

 photo ob_zps4f7e0281.jpg

Yes, the Luxen are here. There are thousands of them, maybe even millions. They are killing the humans and have learned to assimilate the DNA from a human to take their form. What do they want? To take over the world? And who is in charge? Cities are being destroyed and so many lives are lost.

“Daemon was okay. He was himself, and dammit, together we could face anything. We would because we had to.”

Daemon and Katy face the biggest challenge of all, to stop the Luxen from taking over earth. It is a war, and they don’t know who to trust. Old enemies now become allies. I do want to say that Hunter, the Arum from Obsession, is brought back in this book. For me this was a dream come true. To have them both on the same page, well, it was almost more than I could handle.

 photo ja_zps0fc32623.jpg

"God, I loved Daemon. I was in love with him as much as I had been the very first time I recognized what that burning sensation was, what that almost electric shock every time we touched meant. This kind of love was the real deal, stronger than a whole planet full of psycho aliens and an entire government.”

We meet a new character in this book, Lotho, the leader of the Arum. He was crazy, psychotic and hilarious. It seems like the Arum could have their own series. I love, love, love Hunter. I am dropping a hint here Ms. Armentrout.

 photo tumblr_n51ngm9VX91syb3aio4_250_zps25070883.gif

“Daemon kissed like he was staking a claim, but he already had me—all of me. My heart. My soul. My whole being.”

This book is a highlighter’s dream. I had such a hard time choosing which quotes to include. The things Daemon says to Katy, well, all I can do is “sigh.” This book will make you laugh plenty of times, cry, and sigh (a lot.) And I think there is a moral to the story. For me, I think it is the old adage, “love conquers all.” The power of the love between Daemon and Katy, and even Dawson and Beth, is what saved them all. So, if you have been considering starting this series, I say, “What the heck are you waiting for?” You are in for the ride of your life. Jennifer Armentrout, all I can say is thank you. I tried to think of something deeper, something more memorable but all I can come up with is, “Thank you!”

“You’ve got a big heart, Kitten.” His lips cruised over mine as he spoke. “That’s what I love about you most. Well, that and I am a really big fan of your sweet body, but your heart? Yeah, that completes the package of you, wraps it up with a nice little bow. It makes you perfect to me.”

Spoilers

I'm so glad I'm finally done with the Lux series, it was painful but I managed to make it to the end. I didn't have high expectations for Opposition, I knew the MC's would be as insipid and frustrating as ever and it was pretty obvious how things would work out. But I have to admit that I enjoyed Opposition more than I thought I would, it was still rather rubbish but unlike most other JLA books it had the odd moment of being entertaining.

Random thoughts:

-One of the most enjoyable aspects was the world, I actually really liked the Luxen/Arum/Hybrid/Origin/Daedalus set up and the various bad guys. The world building made sense and was fun to read about. If the main characters and story weren't so cheesy/generic/predictable I would have liked the series so much more.

-Opposition very much reminded me of the last book in JLA's Covenant series, they were both very similar, what with the whole end of the world sort of craziness going on and secret races being exposed to the public. It felt like I'd already read it before.

-Katy was the worst kind of Mary Sue. She was the self-centered, up herself, judgmental, TSTL, thought-she-was-funny-and-awesome-but-really-wasn't type of Mary Sue. After 4 books she should have learned to be less daft, and less swoony about Daemon… And instead more concerned about all the WTFery going on around her. But nope, she was still a silly little twit.

-Katy and Daemon's relationship was quite cheesy but at least their love/feelings for each other was easy to see and believe. A lot of books I've read recently that centre heavily on the romance have been less than impressive — the 'romances' have been utterly unconvincing and the so called love the heroes have for their heroines have been lukewarm at best… So yea, at least JLA can actually write a hero in love.
The only thing about their relationship that really irritated me (apart from the cheesiness) was the whole marriage and forever thing going on… They're only teenagers and no matter how much they love each other now I won't believe they'll stay in love as they grow, change, and drift apart. I don't know why YA authors are so obsessed with their teen heroines marrying the first guy they properly date, it's weird.

-Katy still didn't know how to swear properly, instead she used childish substitutes that made her sound simple. Well, except for when she was calling another female character a bitch, because its fine for heroines to swear at girls but swearing in any other situation isn't okay. I don't know why so many authors can't have their heroines swear, do they think it somehow makes them less worthy? Everyone swears occasionally, especially in messed up situations. Naturally, Daemon and the other male characters were allowed to say whatever they pleased, no matter what was going on. I hated the double standards.

-I loved how the bad guys conveniently revealed all their plans to Katy and co. Yea right, as if any bad guy with half a brain would reveal all their secrets and boast about their evil plans before they've even carried out said evil plans.

-Katy and Daemon sure managed to squeeze in loads of sex when they were constantly in danger and in a middle of a freaking war. They needed to get their priorities straight.

-I liked the secondary characters far more than Katy and Daemon. They were actually really entertaining, especially some of the Arum. Also, I preferred Dee when she'd went all evil, I loved her beating Katy up.

-Of course, Katy's mum had to die so she was left without any family. What's with all these heroines losing everyone? And only ever having the hero? Of course, Daemon still had ALL his family as well as Katy… The heroes always seem to get everything probably because the heroine is never enough for them… YA heroines on the other hand are perfectly content with having nothing except for their man. Ugh.

-Did Beth ever bother to find her mum and tell her she wasn't dead? Or was she just happy being without her mum/brother because she had Dawson? It wasn't even mentioned whether she contacted her, it's not like she needed to protect her mum from the truth anymore since everyone knew about aliens and whatnot. Why was Daemon's family more important than Katy's and Beth's?

-The writing wasn't impressive, it was rather simple and cliched. There was a whole load of gazes colliding, locked gazes, twitching jaws, frowning, arm folding, and lip trembling. I wish more effort was put into writing something that stood out.

-I didn't like all the Harry Potter or Twilight or other pop culture references, they took me right out of the story.

-I suspect JLA will do a spin off with Luc or one of the Arum characters. I hope she doesn't though, I'm sick of all these already long YA series having spin offs. It just makes authors look cheap, talentless and lazy.

Although, I wasn't a fan of the series, there were some parts that I did enjoy… Like the world, some of the secondary characters, and the occasional funny line. However, there were far more negatives than positives. So yea, I doubt I'll read any of JLA's future series.

“We could really use the Avengers right about now."
"Screw that. We need Loki," Daemon retorted.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😳🤬😏🙃🥰

The heroine: Katy - she is no longer your standard teenager. She is a hybrid with alien powers and after the events at the end of the last book, the secret is out about the Luxen and to make matters even worse, they are invading Earth.

The Hero(s): Daemon - he and the rest of the Luxen, including his siblings Dawson and Dee have disappeared. They have gone with the Luxen and nobody knows why or when they will return.

The Story: When the Luxen start attacking in Coeur d’Alene, Katy and her Origin friends don’t know what to do. The Luxen start killing everyone in the vicinity and taking the forms of those they killed. It is apparent that they are much stronger than the Luxen that have lived on earth.

The Narration was done by Rob Shapiro and Justine Eyre like the previous books and again they did a stellar job. Justine has a young sounding voice and portrays all the angst and yearning of a teenage girl in love. Rob Shapiro sounds a bit old for the character, but he does Daemon’s snarky attitude very well.

There were some awesome supporting characters in this book, much like the previous books. Daemon’s sister Dee was quite different in this book, his brother Dawson and girlfriend Beth also were present. Nancy Hesher was quite the villain in the previous book and was just as bad in this book and there were also some new villains Roland, an invading Luxen and Lothos, the crazy king of the Arum. I picture him as Jason Momoa.

My favorites though were Origins Luc and Archer. Luc was about 14 years old at this time and his story is told in the Origin series starting with The Darkest Star. That story starts in this book with Luc and his friend, a girl who is very sick with some form of Blood Cancer and Luc has procured some prometheus serum used to help create stronger Hybrids. He hope it will cure her. It made me want to read that series over again. Though I think I will wait a while, since I read it only a year ago.

I really liked Archer as well. In the last book he seemed like a military type since he was Katy’s guard at Mount Weather where she was held captive and experimented on. We found out later that he was an Origin and Luc’s friend who had infiltrated Project Daedalus. In this book he seemed younger and was more laid back and a bit sardonic. I really liked him a lot. The romance between Katy and Daemon was great as always but the action in this one was just as prevalent as the romance and I loved it. Both Katy and Daemon had some great quotes as well. I enjoyed the humor in this book as well.

“I always had this plan for the off chance I was around for the end of the world. I’d climb up on my roof top, turn up the radio, blast R.E.M.’s It’s The End of The World, and watch it all go down from my lofty perch.

Except real life rarely turned out that cool.

And it was really happening—it was the end of the world as we knew it, and I sure as hell didn’t feel fine.”

That quote takes me back to another alien invasion ala Independence Day.

In this last installment of the LUX series we finally have what we’ve been waiting for since book 1: the war between luxen, arums and humans. And the previous book only left us with questions.
Who are the bad guys after all? Who is trying to ruin mankind? Or is mankind trying to rule all the others species?
If you are a fan of these books sit down and get ready for an amazing reading and ending. If you haven’t read this books because you believe nothing good can come from aliens, shut up, sit down, and start reading this right now!

Rating: 5 Stars.
Storyline: I can’t say much about these books except that they probably are one of the most amazing YA series ever written.
Writing Style: First person. Dual POV. Jennifer Armentrout always writes wonderfully, so this is hardly a surprise.
Character Development: Well. I love Daemon. For a long time (before I turned to badass alpha-males) he was my #1 book boyfriend. Even when in some moments I wanted to slap him, I still loved him in this one. I always liked Katy as well, and in this one she just proved how an awesome of a heroine she was. As in the previous books, the supporting characters were great.
Steam: Meh.
