I keep trying to figure out a way to describe this book, urban fantasy doesn't seem completely right, more like dark fairy tale. I don't know what to call it except extremely addicting and very good. I love how Garet is going through training from in debt jewelry designer to powerful warrior and guardian. Is Will good or bad, he is part of the dark but is he bad? hmmmmm...

I like Ren, he seems so sweet. So far, still liking it. Not a ton happening but still good.

I'm enchanted by this book. Fae, vampires, demons and more but with such sophisticated writing. The setting is New York City in the world of art, antiques and classic literature. I Love it all. Garet is extremely likeable.

First... narrator is incredible. She makes a guy not only sound like a guy but a sexy guy. She should win her own award. 2nd, I love the story and how Chaz and Sully already have a "past". Again, nothing better when an author just throws you into a story and you have to figure out what is going on when the character reveals small tidbits along the way. So far, very good.

Note to self- do not start book when trying to get ready for work. This book made me late. Okay, I made myself late for work. Thankfully, I'm not really on a clock and I'm not expected to be in at any particular time. Ok, back to book. It's very different, first I don't think I've read a book with such an artsy setting- very cool sophisticated touch to the book so far. Like the writing style too.

I really liked it. Very small issues but they did not distract from the story. I liked the author's writing style which I guess many other reviewers did not.

Stacia Kane has so redeemed herself in my book. I LOVED the ending. All I can say is Chessbomb!

I'm almost done and pleased with the story. Sure Chess's "magic talk" drives me crazy and Chess has so much inner dialogue that it's like its own side story- What is Chess thinking while she does her magic, run for her life, have sex with Terrible, and so on.

So why was Darina at the old house in the first place? I missed that one. I love it when authors throw you into the story and you have no clue what is going. It actually makes the story seem so much more real to me. You get to figure things out when the main character does. Some of my favorite books are like that.

I don't know what to think but the book has me hooked. Is she delusional? Are they Zombies? Who the heck is Hunter? Very curious.

The relationship development between Seneca and Max is so perfect. Very believable which is super funny because one of the two is not even human (or maybe both, I'm guessing Seneca is not all human but that is just a guess).

Surprise, surpise, what seems like a simple paranormal romance book is actually quite the good read. I love the story and the concept of shifters as aliens. Talk about sexual tension...wow.

This book was much better towards the end. Frankly, everyone else didn't like the ending, I thought it was the best part of the book.

I guess I should also mention, I am in the minority since everyone seems to love the books. I really think the character of Chess and the character of Terrible keeps me reading but that is all.

I realized what drives me nuts about these books, it is Chess going on and on about her spells, her magic, the Church, etc. I almost feel like the author is saying "look at all the witchcraft research I did" and is trying to fit in as much as possible. If you take all of that out, and you get to the "story", you would have a much, much smaller book.

I think I need a non-paranormal book. So, here it is. I'm reading this just based on all the great reviews, I hope it lives up to its reputation.

1st half of the book, 5 stars, great mystery, great world building, great action, 2nd half- 3 stars- dragged on and on, wanted to get to the point.

This book dragged, and dragged but finally something is happening. Chess is very long winded but now that there is more Terrible, the book is tolerable.

So, this book is so much better than book 1 and 2. Ashe's relationship with Eden is very real. Her feelings as a widower, very real, her feeling for Reynard, very real. Even if you took all the paranormal elements out of the book, you would have a great story about a women struggling to make it with a teenager daughter.
