Pages are small, print is large, language is simple (simplistic, even). It is the ideal palate cleanser for an afternoon of easy reading.

Funny in bits so far, meets my expectations because I didn't have very high ones to begin with.

Love Morse books. Wish I had time to read a little more.

Ok, I may have judged this book too harshly at first. I'm getting into the meat of the story now, and I can see why there was so much time spent in building the back stories.

Having said that, it is important not to come at this book as a Harry Potter fan. Distinctly different mindset required, and it is a strictly adult novel.

Finally getting somewhere.

Sloooooooooow reading. The descriptions and the places and the descriptions of places and the characters and the descriptions of the characters and their back stories and their interpersonal relationships are endless. We are going to learn about the whole town of Pagford, its politics, its environs, its inhabitants, its history, and about every blade of grass before the story actually progresses.

Slightly put off by the micro chapters (halfway point was chapter 60!), the excessive use of British phrases (doesn't the author want to be understood?), the slightly strange allegories and similes used, but mostly with the lack of context of several side characters fleetingly mentioned with ZERO backstory or explanation.

The last book I have in the series. Will have to buy the rest soon!
