so much easier to get to sleep at a reasonable time when the pre bed reading is nonfiction <.<

It's kind of weird reading a book w a 12yro protagonist.

on characters taking over the story: What such a writer means, however, if he only realized it, is that he becomes so fascinated with the personality he's created that he prefers to write about that personality instead of the story he originally had in mind. #shade

i hope im not mistaken in feeling like there's finally a plot sneaking in. :/

GR needs to put a section for or way to filter out reviews you have liked. Sometimes I like reviews from strangers. Sometimes I add that book to my tbr, then two years later when I see it is on sale and on my tbr I have NO F'ING clue why it's on my tbr, so shrug, guess I'll pass.

Just hours ago there I had some book in mind I knew I owned but needed to DL to kindle so I could read it and now I have no idea what it was... :(

Owned this for 8 years. Tried to start it multiple times. Finally was able to get past the first scene. That's a good thing. :)

the shine has faded a bit

First Klune, cuz... reasons. Something kind of off about the writing, feels a bit like he's mocking his characters. Also, I despise when writers make a character a writer, like keep your self-insert masturbation fantasies to yourself, thanks. That said, it's pretty funny... :/

Well, there went my plans for the day...

I was right, it's gotten much more interesting. However, I am now wondering is there some reason Pulley always makes the gay relationship so sub-sub-subtextual that even when you're expecting/looking for it it feels like you might be imagining it? Is she trying to have her cake and eat it too with oblivious straight readers? Or is she just going for low-key and overshooting the mark by several miles?

So far, while not bad exactly, this hasn't really been engaging me like her previous books, but it feels like it's finally going to get interesting.

Middle-class people, Alice explained, hadn't been in the world enough to know anything, and it was best to smile and nod and ignore them.

I was expecting a horror/suspense vibe, but the main character seems completely fine with everything that's happened so far. I guess it makes sense in context, but I have no idea where this is going to end up.
