Too early to know if I'll stick with this, but I must say that introduction will serve as an excellent example if any one were to ask why so many people typically skip introductions. 20 pages of worthless trash. Complete and fucking total waste of paper.

Have to read the stories for the analysis to make sense, but I don't want to read the stories. I have not enjoyed any of them so far. Like, I have no idea when I last read Chekhov before I picked up this book, like probably decades ago. I remember nothing. But I'd swear the one I just read in this book was the worst story Chekhov ever wrote, including ones he probably burned unpublished.

The story is interesting, but the difference in writing style between this one and Deeplight is hard to miss.

The worldbuilding feels a bit much, like I can barely parse it, much less take it all in on the first go.

Now that the hetero book ban is over, I can't remember what it was I wanted to read a few weeks ago. Other than Hardinge and I can't recall which of hers I was thinking of. :/

No idea what a 1919 Irish-New York accent is supposed to sound like, but it don't matter cuz my inner narrator is reading this in the breathy voice of a southern lady from a 1980's tv movie.

What to do when you want to read all the books at once...

Kind of fell into an all LGBTQIA fiction for pride month without really planning to, and it's a plus in that it's narrowing the pool to choose the next book from, but it's simultaneously making certain other books more attractive by nature of being off-limits. :/

Picked this off the kindle based solely on the criteria: gay, 3rd person, past tense, and damn it it's extremely good.
