Borderline preachy there for a bit. And your privilege is showing. Haven't really been tempted to quit, kind of invested in Albert getting a happy ending, but this feels like reading an exceptionally low budget after school special.

i kinda don't like the writing, it's like... patronizing? Albert is isolated and withdrawn, socially stunted maybe, but he's a grown ass 64 yro man, why are you writing him like he's a child, or stupid?

I do like the characters, but it feels far more focused on mundane daily life details than anything I'd typically read. idk yet.

i really don't understand how anyone is interested in reading sex scenes. seriously, in the rankings of media for porn delivery, text is, if not last, def way below abstract interpretive dance, finger painting, and macaroni art.

Also, funny how those two specific women give off a stereotypical lesbian vibe, (and Valery gets on with the second instantly, despite the complications), but Pulley never spells anything out which kind of seems like a fail if they're that way for the reasons I'd infer.

Weird to read a Pulley book without any supernatural element. (So far anyway.) Interestingly, she's signalling the gay more clearly than any of her other books, (the six letter f word has even appeared), but the potential of any relationship/sex/intimacy seems further away than it felt in any of her other books.
