I have no idea how long I will keep following along with the infuriating schedule whoever is running #whale weekly is setting. At some point, I'll just finish.

Writes out an incomplete list of all the books I want to read RIGHT NOW.
Realizes at the speed I read, it would likely take me the rest of the year just to read what's on the list... :(

I really wish GR would fix the damn feed and stop making 10 year old reviews/updates look like they're 10 minutes old. The top right timestamp should show the time of the actual item, not the time someone liked it or commented on it. So annoying.

First part of this was largely underwhelming, but there's a bit of revealing, surprising, and oh! I wouldn't have thought of that in whatever section I'm in now.

This morning I thought I might power through the last third (200p) of this and finish today, but no. Much as I love this, it's exhausting.

Not that I don't like these people, but still missing my favorite MCs. Also, are Huxley and 9A going to get it on or what? Lot o' touching going on in that last scene.

Bit of a different feel to the previous books so far. Focus is on different characters. This one's twice the size of the previous books too.

Much of this is familiar, but not all and I still can't recall how this volume ends. Still holding out hope that all the "god" business is an engineered delusion. Brillist + Utopian conspiracy anyone?

Occasionally wondering if I should have started rereading from book 1, but I'm not that patient, he says, having waited 2 years after book 4 came out to get around to it at all...

My only complaint: The chapters are sooo damn long.

World's longest chapter. Enough tiny moments of familiarity have occurred to convince me I really did read this before, didn't just imagine I had. Love the language in this, I can't think of an sf series I loved this much in recent years, I just suck so bad at series it's taken 2 years to get back to it.

Reread so I can finally read book 4. It's like I never read this at all, nothing is even remotely familiar so far.

The contrast in the writing style between some of these chapters is just, wtf.
