This book is a nightmare

“Paul, am I a baby?” Trump asked Manafort. “Is that what you are saying, I’m a baby?”

Not surprised, but still disappointed at the US Government.

This book is very, very good.

Losing momentum.

This book is incredibly interesting, and making me reconsider just about every sci-fi book I've ever read.

The main character feels more like he came out of 1950, much less 1990. It's incredibly strange for him to be so weirded out by homosexuality. Halderman writes women as if he has vaguely heard of one. Women soldiers are essentially concubines, which no one seems to find uncomfortable or bizarre.

Lots of thoughts on this so far. I'm torn between some plot details being intended or mishaps. Particularly how incredibly inept the military is in this novel. I'm not sure how much of that is Vietnam-criticism, and how much of it is simply moving the plot forward.

I am on chapter 60 of 78 and the big bad has yet to appear. This universe is still so impressive and well-thought out. I've enjoyed every bit of life with the many different Bobs, and I think there really is an endless story to tell there. Taylor is creatively balancing wit and moral quandaries that humanity may have to face if we do wish to reach a type of technological Singularity.
