This story is so rich in family dynamics and personalities. I like the chapters told from various viewpoints, and I can’t quite pick a favorite.

I love the idea of “Anthony” and his grandfather’s fedora. In that moment, he seemed to grow into the name Anton.

I knew this book would be a heartbreaker, but what surprises me is that I am not sad about the breakup of the marriage. They seemed so well-suited and happy initially.

You know something awful will happen to these characters you like, but you can’t help but read on. Rose the bitter woman is the only one without redeeming qualities, so far.
