Someone tell the author to stop explicitly telling us that Hockey holds “the weight of an entire community, or that it demands “your all,” etc etc.

Wait, how small is this town where everyone can hear a teenager hit slap shots in the woods?

Ok, this sentence structure is telling me Amat’s mother laid on him when he was born. I think the author meant to write “she laid him on her chest”.

So the analogy is that his room is so small it would be closet in a mansion.

The author must realize the irony in what he just wrote.

It’s page three and the author has already told us Beartown isn’t most place but it also is most places, twice. Also, Maya’s mom repeats terrible advice to her fifteen year old daughter.
