Doesn’t want to be a Wizard?? I’m intrigued.

This prologue is just one page of exposition and has way too many names and terms.

I’m curious about this Wizarding School book published six years before Harry Potter.

After passionately trying to protect his monks from death, the Abbot tells everyone that death is to be accepted as part of life.

Wat.

Hah! I groan at this prophecy recall.

Also, this reminds me of the Battle of Five Armies, except in that story Bilbo quickly became unconscious and missed it.

I’d like to remind the author that a staff is a very different skill than a large sword and shield, but logic be damned.

I can’t help but think that the Abbits adherence to hospitality decorum ended up killing a lot of mice. They were all unnamed red shirts so we can’t sympathize, but still. Almost at the end so may be that moral dilemma can only be explored in another book.

Flat desolation? It’s Mordor. The author put Mordor in his book.

A good surprise here would be if the sword was not there, and then later they deduce that the weathervane was blocking the light. The sword must be deep in Cluny’s territory, for dramatic reasons.

A little weird thing to say. — “You mark my words, young feller-my-mouse. A body would be lucky to settle down with her.”

I could see this treasure hunt being interesting and mysterious to kids.

Already this book is so much better and interesting then the last book I read.

Hey, are we just going to ignore the unethical choice by Jehenit to draw some of her daughters life force to “keep her quiet”?

Stylistic choice: Author could’ve just kept it at, “She was frightened,” and refrained from describing every possibility.

Eminel’s story is similar to a lot of anime stories, which also hint at that Greek theme of inevitability of prophesy.

Author likes the ruin her own surprises with premptives.

I’m not able to give birth, but I’m pretty sure labor isn’t like this. Also, someone needs to tell the author that babies doesn’t laugh right out of the womb. Babies laugh around month three or four.
