As a prose stylist Fleming has gone up a notch here. This is, in many respects, the best thriller writing I've ever read. oddly, as his writing has matured, so has his misogynism.

Just noticed that more people on my friends list have read The Hunger Games than pretty much any other single book.

This is where the Kindle really wins. it was either pay £7 to get part 2 on the Kindle or take this whopping hardbook out of the library. I'm still not sure it wouldn't be worth paying the money since this thing is a WEIGHT.

It's very good so far. Not quite throwing *everything* at you as the early HH books do, but quietly bizarre and funny.

I've got that "damn, I wish I hadn't started this book when I have to work all day" feeling :( Right now I could use a holiday so that I can settle down somewhere quiet with my book, a teapot and long stretches of time ahead of me.

A sensible first impressions update.

Starting a volume of ASoFaI feels like an epic undertaking each time (and this is the longest section). Martin quickly sets the tone as completely different from AFFC and focussing in on the "favourites" - namely the "heroes" (if this series has any) gives it a warmth and immediacy FFC didn't have. Already been a section that made me gasp!

In a word, I'm hooked. Again.
