Finally dating Dory, oxy/opiod addiction, doing meth (?), Mr. Pegget (spelling?) death. Such an amazing book. I definitely see why it won so many awards.

Between Fas-Forward’s return, meeting Dory, and Demon’s gnarly knee injury I can hardly keep track. Book is captivating. I also liked the random two-page tangent of how part of NorthWest Virginia were screwed by the North and the South during the Civil War.

I felt the transition to late teenage years was a bit abrupt. Story is still captivating and no stars deducted, but I felt I turned a page and BHAM: teenager.

So much happening! Joining JV team, meeting hippie wife and drawing/art, and now Mr. Armstrong and the Confederate flag.

Fun to read a true comic again.

I waited with baited breather as Demon talked to Coach about staying.

Just got to part moving in with football coach and meeting Angus. I laughed and cringed when found out Angus female.

Fascinating seeing Demon with McCobbs, running away, getting robbed, and meeting his grandmother and her immediate family. Not sure where this story will end but it is quite the journey!

The author makes the teen awkwardness hilarious with the introduction of Emmy.

Pretty seamless incorporation of additional characters like Fast-Forward, Tommy, etc. I am able to keep track of each and identify with them. Really sad about the mom though.

I like how author utilizes smells to pull the reader in. For example, when Stoner makes Demon clean the floors with bleach and the smell makes Demon unwell.

Maria and Romeo’s trial after what happened to the baby is so messed up. I like how author reminds us this is the 1980s as a method to point out there is no way to verify Romeo is the father.

Damon has quite the interesting relationship with his scandalous mother.

Such a sad part just happened. I gasped out loud when it occurred. Why do I care so much about these characters in this wonky take on a “zombie” apocalypse. Stupid author being so good I care so much.

So fun to see this podcast brought into graphic novel form.

I was wrong! Duchess knew of plot against magic users (and herself?) but is not in on it.

Also, climbing through the sewage line was ingenious by the author.

Inquisitor’s name is Oberon. Also, about to please case to the Duchess. I am extremely intrigued to see if my prediction about her being nefarious is correct!

I think the inquisitor being the one to kill wizards is a red herring. I think a different power is a work. Ooooo! Maybe the duchess? She did make that comment during the trial about magic vs non-magic users!

I like Spindle, the animated Gingerbread man familiar, the raft of bread, and the Hanging Goat tavern.

The mystery of the brother and sister who broke in and then this stranger who can detect magic adding another level of intrigue to this stellar fantasy novel.

The trial was interesting. Especially seeing the inquisitor being embarrassed. Also, I liked at the line about when you think about needing to go to the bathroom you all of a sudden have the need to go. I am very into this book. Also, I am switching back and forth between ebook and audio book. The audio book narrator is British-sounding, which more adds an extra layer to the fantasy setting.

Gotten a little better, but still very jumbled.

Really good so far! Good character development and a captivating twist on the traditional fantasy troupe. I am intrigued to see where the author takes it.
