Each story is so different. Some are a bit out there for my taste. Most, however, are splendid in their horror story-telling.

I simply cannot stop listening to this audiobook. I am captivated.

I am on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next.

I started it yesterday and cannot put it down. I love love love “The Stand.” This anthology is as close to a sequel as we will get…and I am all here for it.

I got a little farther before returned via Libby: Chapter 23: Colossal is a Tame Word for Him. 23:26:19 read and 21:09:29 left. Also, Libby said about 13 weeks wait. So sometime January 2026 I will finish?

Only one day left before will return to library via Libby App. At 22:56:29 listened with 21:39:19 left. I may listen more before it is due back tomorrow morning, but wanted to do this update in case. Will finish listening when my check-out comes back around. Could be two weeks…could be two months.

This is quite an interesting alternative (?) reality.

SPOILER———> I never knew the role Twain played in ghost-writing, promoting, and publishing Ulysses S. Grant’s 1885 memoirs right before Grant’s death.

So…many…examples.

Taking a few days break. Will surely not finish before audiobook due back to Libby. So this will be on my shelf for a while.

This audiobook is 45 hours. I find in trying to squeeze the Libby version in the 21-day window (I will not be able to renew because 7 people are currently waiting for the audiobook to become available) I am listening at 1.25 speed & pushing over 3 hours of listening a day. I am becoming stressed to finish. I am going to slow to normal speed, listen less, and if need to wait to renew to finish I am fine with that.

I am listening on audiobook checked out through Libby. I am afraid I am missing some things since trying to finish before audiobook due back. Given that, however, the book is a delight.

If you like Chernow’s verbose prose you will enjoy this book. If you are a “get to the point already” historical reader you will find yourself waiting for the torture to end.

Can’t stop listening. So good.
