Sorry I've not been around he site much in recent days...I'm REALLY heads down on my fourth novel of The First Empire and that keeps me away. Also, Robin is desperately trying to get the beta for book one out, and so I've had to make some tweaks to that book. So while it might seem like I'm not doing anything, the opposite is actually the truth.

I've been gone the last few days on a mini-vacation my wife planned for my birthday - it was fun, but I'm also anxious to get back to writing. I was in a pretty exciting place when we headed out ;-)

I'm initially disappointed, as I've heard so many great things about this book. It may just not be "for me." Still, I'm not giving up on it - and hoping for it to be more captivating. I just find myself a little bored at this point...There is a lot of initial world building going on - which may work for a lot of people, I'm just hoping for the plot to start to emerge.

I've not actually started this yet. Just moving it to the the top of the TBR pile. Going on a long trip this weekend and plan on putting in the audio book for the drive. Heard a lot of good things about this so very excited to get started.

Michael is 10% done with Assassin's Apprentice / Royal Assassin (Farseer Trilogy, #1-2)
This is my first Robin Hobb book and I'm really looking forward to it. I must say, for me, it seems to be starting out a bit slow...but I think that has a lot to do with the time in which it was written...with a higher emphasis on world building. I'm sure it will get better as it is such a cherished read of so many.

And done. A book good read. I'll write up a full review in a few days but just wanted to put it in the recommend column.

Had a nice plot twist I didn't see coming...always good when that occurs. Some other things that I did know were coming arrived - which is good as well...shows the author is giving enough clues to put the pieces together. Still enjoying.

Still enjoying, although I have an issue with one of the revelations and I'm wondering how thins tie in with each other. Still enjoying, but a slight jog in the plot is a bit much for me to suspend disbelief.

Still on audio so not sure how far I am into it. Still enjoying. I have my theories about what is going on...we'll see if I'm right or not.

It's always hard when I start writing a new book. A lot of start/stops and rethinking the beginning. Today was the first day that I really felt "in the groove" with Fhrey (book #4 of The First Empire). I now am "into the book" and things are flowing much better. It's a good place to be.

Based on the fact that I have family history with cancer...I usually avoid anything with this subject matter...but MAN can Green write. I'd read it just for how his technique alone.

Just wanted to let everyone know that work on Fhrey (Book #4 of First Empire) is going well. I've set a goal to finish it by November 15th and so far on track...thanks to the Scrivener tracking feature. In other news, Robin is 75% done with the edits to Rhune and it should be going out to beta users next week.

I'm actually not 100% sure how far I am through this book as I'm listening to it on audio. So far so good!

I'm listening rather than reading (really like the narrator) I do now see why people say it is slow. But again, I'm not turned off by it. I know Patrick is obsessive about his editing, but I think a heavier hand could have improved this some. Still, I recognize an author's right to make their own decisions and that if the book is the way he wanted it - that's an important consideration.

Still very much enjoying this - but I can see why people think it is a bit slow. I've enjoyed my entire time with the book so far - but yes, nothing much has happened.

I find it a very entertaining light read. Greatly enhanced by Mur's narration.

I'm listening to the audio version - so no way of knowing how far into it I am - but I love experiencing the story through Mur's voice.

Actually not sure how far I'm in (Chapter 4) because it's an audio book. Enchanting and mezmerizing is the best way to describe this book - even if you buy it in paper or ebook versions - do yourself a favor and get the audio as well - To hear THIS book read by Neil himself is sublime.

I'm "reading this" via an audio book so I don't know exactly how far I am through the book. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I've just finished Chaper 11 (Haven). Before reading this book I have heard many people say, "Nothing happens" or "the book is too slow" I have to say I disagree. It's not about the destination, it's about the journey and so far I'm really enjoying my time spent with Kvothe.

An enjoyable tale that caught me on more than one occasion for going in a direction I didn't anticipate. Great characters who I want to see more from.

Writing is very good. I have a bit of issue with the age of the character being able to accomplish some of what he does. Most women could defend themselves against a 14-year-old boy.
