Is this the end of the miscommunication plot? Let it be so! We love protagonists who actually talk (granted, I get the whole "you said you wanted to help the beast that murdered by brother" thing not really opening a dialogue).

We love protagonists that go to therapy. Yay for normalizing it, especially for Middle Grade kiddos. 👏🎉

Unnecessarily hidden secrets/miscommunication is one of my least favorite tropes and it's getting a little frustrating, but I guess it makes more sense for kids (who don't actually know how to communicate well) than adults (who have much more communication experience).

Man. I remember the first book in this series incorperated some heavier topics in the larger story and this one seems to be doing the same. So far we got public shaming, divorce, racial prejudice, and privilege/corrupt people getting away with stuff because they can pay off their crimes. Nothing is jarring though. It's all woven in really well.

If you liked Morrigan Crow, you'd definitely like this. Lucky for me I liked both!
And I snagged the audiobook back so 14 more days for me 🎉

I'm getting a lot out of this book and sad I have to wait another 6 weeks to get the audiobook back.

I'm stuck at 68%. I don't /not/ want to finish but I also have lost total interest since it had to be returned to the library. But I really tried to stick with it so I want to count it as complete!

So far, the whole idea of finishing the stress cycle makes perfect sense. I think I've actually been trying to do this by dancing whenever I'm stressed writing papers or afterwards, but hearing it explained is really helpful.The idea that you can get rid of the stressor and still have the stress in your body and how you deal with stress and the stressor might be totally different was also very helpful.

Have heard good things about the idea of completing the stress cycle, so I'm picking this up.

This is my first exposure to the idea that ghosts of loved ones are fireflies that follow us and I think that is a beautiful thing 💕

Have had this on my shelf from the used bookstore in anticipation of the Halloween season for the last couple years. Trying it this year via audio. Fingers crossed it goes well 🤞

I know I'm supposed to be feeling tension here but I have lost so much interest. It just feels like it could have been a standalone.

Oh my gosh I thought this was a trilogy and that's why it was dragging but it's a duology 🤦‍♀️

I know we're building up the big bad but it has felt like a drag. Lots of action in the beginning, then we hit land and it all slowed down and got disjointed.

Feeling pretty down thanks to my hormones being wacked again, so I need a book that's a bit perkier that I can switch to when The Dragons Promise gets to demon-y
