Really enjoying this new pov. Getting Gaspar’s thoughts and impressions is more immersive and kinda « reassuring », I don’t feel as alone being lost haha

Still intriguing? But I was expecting to get a little more answers by now, or to feel more connected to the story

Très fan pour l'instant. C'est à la fois très doux, lent, mais aussi inattendu et captivant. Les événements et le déroulement de l'histoire me surprennent et m'intriguent !

Wooow, la hype est légitime, le rythme, la langue, le naturel des dialogues... C'est vraiment très bon

They just have such a weird and unhealthy relationship, he is an ass and she has no personality. But the worst is of course that he treats her like a little girl 1) she was his student as a child 2) she now is a 40yo GROWN WOMAN

The third part is so engaging and tense and aaaaah, where was all that drama before >:(

Aria's crush is cute, but other than that I'm not really enjoying this ... There still are too many filer and basic descriptions and I don't think Aria's characterisation is strong enough. Her voice seems a bit generic... Overall I find it too slow for the story it's telling

I've only read People from my Neighbourhood by Hiromi Kawakami, so I thought fever dream magical realism would be her thing and I expected Strange Weather in Tokyo to be... well just as strange. But so far, although I love the slowness and the domestic scenes, I'm disappointed :( And I'm not sold by the incoming relationship (age gap + teacher-student? :B) (Honestly the cover feels like a trap >:()

This is insane, and insanely good. The subtle shift in the atmosphere, the character developments, the grotesqueness of some scenes clashing with the delicate ones… I’m mesmerised

I thought there were too many basic descriptions of the trip at the beginning, but once they arrived I got more into it. I think the theme and settings are cute
Lisa does seem too obviously to be the character we're gonna get read of?

Moira and Dwight relationship is so fun and sweet and bitter. I loved the whole pogo stick storyline 😭

It's like the fusion of The Great Gatsby and How High We Go In The Dark, I'm obviously obsessed.
The general apathy clashes delightful with the fatality of the situation, it's fantastic. I love how slow and boring (by that I mean domestic/mundane) it is, with glimpses of apocalypse. Quite unique

Love, love, love the ton and the pace. They've both such a great balance of slow, mundane, clashing with the alarming and desperate situation. I also deeply enjoy how distilled the informations on the settings and state of things are, burying us in this domestic haze while the world is slowly ending.
The dialogs are very natural and the characters believable caricatures.

Last one was a miss for me, although I liked the pace a lot

My brain really just reused all The Shining imagery it had stored haha. The atmosphere and settings were delightful creepy and always on the verge of suffocating, but the vaguness prevented them from fully embracing it. The end was disappointing tho

A fascinating and puzzling first story. I wasn't expecting so much sex scenes, but they didn't bother me because of how they were written and used, a sort of objective discomfort for the reader. I found it cleverly done. I was pleasantly surprised by the ""stage"" directions and their evolution. Fantastic feminist undertext.

WHAT'S HAPPENING!?
I'm lost and confused and scared

It weird because it has the vibe of a very slow book, but it’s actually not. We’re only shown the key scenes, never moments of pure rest. Some detailed descriptions sometimes slow the story down, but they’re never over a paragraph long.
In the same vein, everything feels very distant, yet I do care for the characters ? (I definitely have lil crushes ou Ouyang and Zhu 🫡)
