So, the narrator is not terrible but she makes Rhea sound weak and a little whiny. Like she almost baby talks her. I appreciate that the author made the character act and feel like a 15 year old, but "most" 15 year old girls actually sound (as in audibly) more like adults. They don't baby talk!

I'm still enjoying the story, though. I'm anxious to meet the clock wife!

My current pick for KU narration. So far a much better choice than my last attempt. I do not foresee and DNF/1 star rating for this one ;)

Kyle is such a bastard. In fact all of the characters are assholes in some form or fashion at this point but Kyle, man, he makes me stabby.

I'm still at 72% because in the very next paragraph one of her inner musings was "Whatever" in response to Alton talking to her about the king. Again the immaturity of the character is glaringly obvious. Just when I talked about character growth. I knew I spoke too soon.

I've been reading this for several days now, just a story here and there. I just finished "Little Danny" and I must say it was pretty fantastic. However, I never, ever, ever want a little Danny. God, how disturbing that would be.

It bothers me that she has not been more worried about her daughter. I mean, her words may say that she is but her actions tell a different story.

So, yeah. I still haven't picked this one back up. I may start skimming a bit. I've made it half way through so now I feel like I owe it to the book to finish it out.

When she had addressed King Zachary in the throne room that day, had her complaints been considered nagging?

She has basically acted like a petulant child the entirety of her stay in the castle (so far).

Now that she's leaving I'm kind of happy to see her questioning some of her actions anyway.

I'm trying, I really am. But sheesh...

"Sicarius. I, ah..." Have always wanted to see you like this, she thought. No, she couldn't say that. Was wondering if you were blond all over. No, definitely not that.

Oh yes, I love it.

An automatic sewer cleaner? Yeah, I'm totally picturing the cleaner from Labyrinth.

One more comment about her snarky jokes...I get it. She's snarky and funny. There is no need to point it out every time she says something she considers witty, which is like every other sentence btw. First Amaranthe and her ocd cleaning, now Alisa and her "sharp tongue". I really do like the books but someone please grant me the patience to get past this character annoyance.

I'm trying to not be annoyed by Karigan, really I am. It's not her fault that the author created her the way she did. I refuse to use the term "Mary Sue" (I'm not a fan of the way it is thrown around) but she has managed, through no real talent or training of her own, to extricate herself from some rather incredible situations. And then feels she has the right to openly chastise the king upon meeting him. Hmmm...

I think it's due to all the monster porn that my mind immediately went dirty thinking about tongue implants....though I may not be totally off base here. We'll see ;)

So far I'm really liking this one!
