She's always jumping into Sicarious' hiding spots. Gah! I don't think randomly hopping in and out of bushes is a "stealthy" tactic Amaranthe. You're going to be the reason he gets caught! I know...here I go again with complaints against Amaranthe. At least she's not dusting the bushes I suppose...

Funny what's just under the surface, bubbling up when you don't want it. Coward. Failure. Not strong enough. Not brave enough. Not man enough. That's what the voices say, over and over in my head. Not enough. You were not enough. Another thing that's funny. All those voices are my voice, all of them.

If this were an old tale, what name would I give Grim? The bodyguard? The companion? The protector, the keeper? The friend? He was all of those and more. If only she were able to convey those feelings...

Blackthorn needs to experience some serious character development but Grim... Grim is still wonderful. And my fingers are still crossed that this mysterious curse turns out to be a good one---as far as curses go, that is.

Why use "cogitate" twice ?! The first time I thought she was just trying to impress Sicarius but shortly thereafter she said/the author used it again to address another team member. Who the hell using that as a normal verb? Just say: think about/on/over, contemplate, consider, mull over, ponder--See? All it took was googling "synonyms for cogitate."

Maybe it's just that Amaranthe annoys me at times....

Though Sicarius never emoted, he could ooze disapproval with the force of a cannon. *sigh* Isn't he just the dreamiest?

3% in and she's already compulsively cleaned a stranger's office. Like rearranged her books, her desk, everything. And she thinks she's being helpful and it's perfectly acceptable. I'd be pissed if someone did that to my stuff. Please, let me get past this character flaw. Please...

I'm starting to drag through this one. It's good-ish. I like most of the characters but I'm still kind of irked that we have an all male crew aside from Amaranthe. And her cleaning/tidying OCD is a little annoying...

This book is seriously developing an overabundance of testosterone. Don't get me wrong, I like T, really I do. But would it kill her to add in another female character (besides the bitchy ex-classmate)?

"I hear you're a highly ranked swordsman. " He smirked. "In more ways than one." Yet another male character added but I have to say I'm liking this Maldynado ;)

The empire is not just a government; it's a way of life. Our citizens know they're a part of something greater than them. Without the empire to define an ideology for them, they would be lost. Hmmm. :/

Why is she always wanting to clean stuff? First the crime scene now a historical sword. Just because you're a girl doesn't mean you have to be a compulsive cleaner, especially when it directly conflicts with what's appropriate.
