Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about Kit. Maybe I'm just too macabre, but I wouldn't have the same reactions to Leonora or the house that she has. Plus, she WAS negligent and at fault in her situation. "I forgot" is not a good enough reason when it comes to health care.

All this talk of magic having a price, yet she has someone use magic to get rid of her sisters because they annoy her. Plus, she calls out to Nightmare for EVERYTHING.

Maybe it's just me, but Elspeth gets harder to like as the story progresses.

I think this may be a fantasy that I will enjoy via audiobook. It's off to a good start in any case 🤞
