Reading the ebook but not really getting into this. Maybe just not the right book for me at the moment.

I’m tempted to give up on this. I’m nearly halfway and I think I’ve only read part of one chapter that was really about books or library building and this is a painful historical era I don’t have much interest in continuing to read about, at least not from the invaders’ perspective.

This book hurts. I’m not sure I can keep going even if it is a compelling read.

Read to almost 50 pages but I’m just not getting into this. Maybe the humor just isn’t my style or maybe I need to try again another time.

I work with the NAD83(HARN) datum all the time... I knew that constant updates were required due to various factors, but I’d forgotten that of course the datum must be anchored to the North American tectonic plate. Cool!

“...describing walks along the shore amid tempests of wind and rain, with a fire and a cup of tea and the sure affections of a sheltered house afterward. Exposure followed by sanctuary was somehow part of Grandmother’s emotional need, and it turned out to be the pattern of her life.”

My loan expired before I finished. The writing and storytelling is excellent but I think I found the tension difficult to deal with in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic even though this book was specifically recommended as a story of overcoming adversity.
