Sometimes I wonder about author choices a little bit. Ava is really annoying character. Her race makes it even worst and at a certain point, I'm asking "am I reading New Adult or a grown ass book" because her constant annoying presence feels real NA

This is why I kind of stick with Black authors recently. I ignored the dump truck butt commentary way back but the FMCs butt being brought up as big/large when she's probably a size 4-6 maybe 8 is mad disrespectful. I get it's to make me know her fam is whack but it's just weird to include

And another thing...how have they not gotten caught by now?? They are flagrantly living their lives while doing a covert set-up. It makes no sense. Monaco is a very small area/community with very few Black people. Everyone knows everyone in that space. Why set this portion of the book here? It's adding nothing to the story.

I'm uber confused at this point. This is supposed to be the big finale to a long con and instead of focusing on Morgan and Capri and wrapping that up, I'm reading scenes with the entire family there like this is a vacation. It's like those suburb moments in an Ocean 11 movie where the crew chills together the night before the big heist. Except here all the pieces are in play. So it just stalls the action

Aimee and Capella story line also feels like a drain. I only causally care about them and I'm still trying to figure out why all of this is slowing down the action we should be seeing in Monaco. It's as if everything happens slow/fast. Some story lines are just lagging and taking their sweet time while others are accelerated but those accelerated plot points are interjected into the main plot

It feels like a lot if extra story lines and the main plot feels a little bloated. Core and Skylar is still creepy and the way both Skylar and Jeffie are not into poly but keep getting talked into considering the lifestyle feels icky.

Also something about slow burns in novellas. Like, why? 🥴 what was the reason??

I don't know why but him being 30 and really into the game but her being like 21 or 22 and fresh out of college is off-putting.

I really hate when they make the jealous hatin' hoe ass friend/enemy be dark skin to the FMC light skin, and it's usually the dark skin friend with a complex over their complexion that fuels the jealousy.

No way this is a romance vs regular fiction

And still unsure if I like this book. Lake, Ivy and Vant are the saving grace. Avery is annoying.
