Time moves very randomly in this novel, with throwaway lines about how a month has passed but none of the character work has been shown

Also, the smut is oddly tame? I’m scratching my head thinking of a single scene with all three of them actively participating

Fine so far. Hiccups include the use of being “clean” re STIs* and playing into the stereotype of kinky people being kinky because something traumatic happened to them.

Authors: just use “negative” when referencing screenings. Clean has many dicey connotations. If you don’t understand why, look it up

Checking in to say this is still phenomenal and that the narrator is killing it. Truly, a perfect performance

Joyce’s first novel didn’t really work for me. Thiiiiiis is exactly why I’m keen to giving authors a second chance.

There’s such a sense of flow and ease to the writing, giving up pieces of their history in little bites. The characters are excellently fleshed out, and that includes the supporting cast, too.

Also, the male narrator needs to learn how to do different voices for different characters

I’ve read loads of books with multiple POVs. Never have I been so in the dark regarding the main character and how she feels towards everyone else.

Call is gaps, call it loose threads. Either way, it’s messy and irritating.

It’s like the author is purposely being confusing? It’s the opposite of info-dumping. I’m constantly thinking “who is speaking?” “what did this guy do?” “Huuuhh????”

I need the authors to stop using “literally” as liberally as they do 😣

I’ve so been looking forward to this offshoot of Crowe’s Peter Pan series. What I’m finding is a rushed effort.

Why on earth would these two put aside their hatred of one another? Why do they, in the span of a single conversation, agree to search for Wendy together?

That said, points for a bi/pan protagonist (MMC) and the narrator is truly phenomenal

The first thing you need to know is the writing is highlyyyyyy stylized.

Second, it’s sparse af.

Third, I can’t say I’m enjoying it. Or fascinated. Or even morbidly curious.

This is a good book… I just never want to read it 😭

This might be the most faithful adaptation of Beauty and the Beast I’ve ever read. Which has, strangely, really caught me by surprise.

It’s a bit disappointing to walk on such familiar ground, but again, that’s highly subjective and could very likely just be a me problem.

It also reads on the younger side of YA with moment of gorgeous prose

There’s a lot of cherry picking going on to illustrate his point. Does that make the point moot? I don’t believe so.

It’s a lot of simple, straightforward concepts and advice you’ve certainly all heard before. Even still, I think there’s value in revisiting them

As soon as we got to the compound, the novel’s pacing has been out of whack. The characters too are aware of their strange decisions and yet it’s still not understandable as the reader

On the narrative end, we’re diving right into the thick of things (which prefer)

Chapter 57 is weird. It’s disjointed, comes out of nowhere, and feels hastily shoehorned into a space that makes no sense
