Even though I had no clue where the series was headed, I certainly didn’t see this coming and it’s excellent

I probably should have read a summary of book one to refresh myself with the worldbuilding 😬 All the random welsh words are going over my head. Oops

Pausing my listen of this for a few days because (1) Bloodmarked is finally out and (2) this storyline is hitting just a liiiiiiittle too close to home atm 😅

Somehow this has managed to hold my attention even though very little has happened. Clearly that speaks to story being well paced

Really enjoying this so far! Incredibly atmospheric and I’m loving this claustrophobic world of art history and the occult

… this is literally the same as book one 🥴 grumpy deadly man with tragic past tries and fails to fall for sweet, kind, bubbly but stubborn girl

This book is actually excellent 🤯 sooooo spicy but also such a strong commitment to character development

I read 3% last night... If that doesn't clue you into how much more meh I feel about book five than the other four books, then you should know I'm seriously considering abandoning this until the audiobook comes out... THOUGHTS? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Glad I took a bit of a break from this. I fear if I didn't I'd end up rating it lower. Anyway, into the climax we go!

It's mental to think this won't be done until the end of May 2023 💀

As it stands, I'm enjoying this book the least. Less faffing around, please

Tantor Audio gave me the new audiobook for this. The jury is still out if I'll continue with it. The writing feels juvenile and like I'm going to require some serious suspension of disbelief...

The characters in this book are so kind and wholesome 🥹

Sometimes I hate being a mood reader. Sometimes I love it. Today I love it 🥰

Worldbuilding is still quite messy and there are definitely some plot holes, but I’m still thoroughly enjoying this series. It’s entertaining as hell

The narrator is excellent. Not only is her voice wonderful, she’s great at all the regional accent

Worldbuilding is neat, too! I saw that reviews were mixed but I don’t have anything but positives right now ☺️

I hate being harsh on indie/self-published authors … however, when the situations calls for it, I’m not going to pull my punches. This is bad. It’s poorly written, the characters are frustratingly immature, and somehow, despite this being such a straightforward narrative, I find myself pausing and going back because things just aren’t making sense

Let it be known from this moment forward that I only ever want to read about baddies whose motivations I can completely understand. Bonus points if they were once a force for good and a cruel world twisted them into something sinister

This sweeping, epic conclusion to the series is everything Kingdom of Ash wished it could be

Imaginative, moving, and all-consuming

Magic system is still sloppy and barely makes sense but the rest of it is phenomenal

Even though I saw the reveal coming it was still more impactful than I could have hoped for 🥰

So happy to have a new fantasy trilogy that doesn’t feel like work to get sucked into!

Also appreciating how the world expanded in book two 👀

Right, so! After a couple false starts with a few other fantasy novels (transitioning from contemporary romcoms and smut back into fantasy has been clunkier than expected lmao) I finally seem to have found one I want to stick with

Some similarities to ToG but also lots of newer takes. I hope this one lives up to the hype 🤞🏼

Started with the audiobook but the narrator is insanely grating. She sounds like she’s narrating a shitty Fox News segment 🥴

Not sure when I’ll pick up the physical book since I have a few others I need to read first
