Part of me wishes this hadn't come through on Libby when it did because I just read Lola & the Millionaires.

That duology--with its heavy focus on healing from SA trauma--was a very 'meh' read, and so I'm feeling a little burnt out on mediocre storylines of that nature :/

Went into this blind. I've enjoyed Mands' take on the broken, stone-hearted warrior and the one woman who seems capable of making him feel again.

I'd likely be lost by the quick POV shifts that aren't delineated, but luckily with the audiobook there's aa clear switch from the female narrator to the male narrator

I understand what the author is trying to do here; heavy focus on trauma and healing from it plus a desire to say something more profound about omegaverse societies and betas being looked over. It just isn’t working for me.

Hmmm I was hoping Part Two would be an improvement. It’s not.

Desperately craving something outrageously spicy as a palate cleanser. Struggling to finish both Ashes and the Star-Cursed King (hating it, digital read) and Dragonfall (painfully slow and boring, audio) so I need something solid, easy, and with a *bang*

Back to this. I wish I was enjoying it more 🥲

This came up on Libby. First thoughts: I expected this to be a lot funnier than it is. I’m also really surprised at the lack of complexity with the storyline

I kinda can’t believe a contemporary sports romance is nearly 17 hours long 🫣 But ya’ll see to love this book so I snagged the new audiobook and I’m giving it a shot.

First thoughts: I like that the characters are POC, but am I alone for finding in weird that this book was written by a white woman? If I’m going to read a Black romance I wish it was in support of an author of colour

Damn this book moves at the speed of molasses 😬 I plan to continue reading because the queernorm worldbuilding is important, but I think I would have bailed if I were reading the physical book. I’m much more accepting when I’m accomplishing other things simultaneously

Pretty heavy worldbuilding so far that does unfortunately cross the line into info-dump territory because it isn’t balanced by much action or plot.

The writing style is unique; jury is still out on my opinion of it

Actually listening to the audiobook via NetGalley so I’ll have to amend the edition later when it is listed

I am still astounded by how disappointing this book is. It will likely take me weeks to complete because every page feels like torture

You know what? This isn’t half bad. Part romcom part fantasy romance, it’s been decent
