What do you do to stop people from fighting? Erase their memories. When the Chicago experiment starts to go wrong, the best solution is to wipe everyone's memories. But Tris and Tobias do not want that to happen. People want to erase their friend's memories, so they choose to erase those people's memories in return. But is it really right to do so? What's the difference between them and the others then?

It is believed that genetically damaged people's behaviour is worse. That they are the reason for everything awful. The reason for crimes. The causes of wars. But is that really true? What's wrong with their genes? Why are they discriminated against for something that cannot be changed? Tobias refuses to accept that he is genetically damaged. He just wants to strike the Bureau, as hard as he can.

What does it feel like when everything you've ever been taught, known, and believed was wrong? The world suddenly gets turned upside down. Tris used to believe that the factions were the way to live. But, she realizes that she was always living in an impaired world. A genetically damaged world. The Divergent used to be the special ones, yet they are really the only normal ones.

"The year I turned twelve, I learned how to lie."
Those were the first words from the prologue.

Lies diminish trust between people. Whether it's with your friends, families, or unfamiliar people. Annabelle learned to lie when she was twelve. Like how she lied about herself being okay, despite her being bullied at school. But how do lies have an impact on Annabelle's life? Why does it matter whether she lied?

Insurgent. Rebel. Revolutionary.
All these words describe Tris. Fighting against the Erudite, fighting against Dauntless traitors, fighting against herself. She is constantly wrestling with her divergence. Her divergence, which lets her make decisions apart from faction loyalty, or her divergence, which makes her destroy herself.

Why is honesty important?

Honesty is important in relationships because it builds trust between people. It leads to a fulfilling, free life. But honesty also means hurtful truths. Like how war is now starting between factions. Like how the factionless are plotting something. Like how people are dying every minute. Like how Tris killed her best friend.

Like how Tris is divergent.

Beatrice is told that she is divergent, and being divergent is dangerous. In this world, society is split into five factions. Each faction blames a different quality of human personality. When people turn 16, they have to choose their faction. But why must people only have one quality each faction has? Beatrice, or Tris, chose to leave her faction and her family. Her blood sizzles on the coals and not the stones.

Shatter Me was recommended by my friend, but I'm not sure if I like it. This whole story feels dark, and there isn't much to lighten it up. I usually prefer books that are a bit lighter. The writing style is very unique and poetic. It's interesting how the author scratches out sentences to show how Juliette feels lonely, despairing, and resentful towards herself.

Dumpling Days by Grace Lin is about Pacy, who travels to Taiwan during summer break. I'm not very far into this book, but this book is probably about family and friends. It's interesting to see how they explore the Taiwanese cultures. At first, Pacy and her sisters are reluctant to try new things in Taiwan, but they are likely to find out new things that interest them and come to love Taiwan.

In this book, you can see how Apollo changes along the way. At first, he seems too arrogant and full of himself. As the story progresses, he starts to redeem himself and you can see his changes. When you first meet Apollo, you might think that he is a really carefree person. But you realized that he has his own sadness and sorrow that he doesn't usually show. He learns more about himself and recognizes himself again.

Apollo, the god of the sun, music, poetry, and so on, is cast down to earth as punishment. At the beginning of this book, Apollo has a very arrogant personality. But as the story goes on, I think it shows how he becomes more humble and modest. At first, his personality seems annoying. However, you start to see that he still has a good heart.

I notice that Salva is slowly going over the fact that he cannot find his family at the moment. He doesn't keep wondering about where his family is. Instead, he looks forward to a new life. Of course, he still cares very much for his family, but it just seems like he would be fine, even if someone told him that his family was dead. He appears to accept that he has no family at the moment.

in chapters 10 and 11, I notice the theme of how hope is one of the most precious resources. Even after Uncle dies, he still has the hope to keep going. Uncle and Marial's death encouraged him to finish the trip. "It was almost as if they had left their strength with him, to help him on his journey."-pg 65. Another piece of evidence is his hope to find his family. "If they are here, I will find them."-pg 67.

Iris is finished with I Believe in a Thing Called Love
This book is really cute. It's also really funny, and I always die of second-hand embarrassment in this book. Because this main character, Dessi Lee, is also Asian, there are some things I can relate to. But the only thing I don't love about his book is how sometimes the things Dessi does to too crazy. I get that it's supposed to be like that for the plot, but it's a little extreme. Overall, I still love this book.

the relationship between Jason and Percy is interesting. On the cover, Percy and Jason are fighting against each other, and I'm wondering how that would affect them after. It's interesting how these series incorporate Greek and Roman mythology. I am somewhat biased about it though. I stan the Greek side, mostly because the first series is all about it.
