I'm sorry, Lexi is such a wild protagonist name choice for a medieval style fantasy setting.

I want to like this so bad but it’s just so boring. I was expecting some queer gothic horror but all I’m getting is queer superiority complex and whining?

I’m enjoying it so far but the setting is throwing me off a little. It would have been better to commit to a true fantasy world or simply to call Aven Rome (bc it is just Rome lets be honest) and avoid the awkward names that are almost identical to real places.

Im enjoying this but the revelation that Seth is Greek when the narrator has been putting on a French accent all this time has me giggling

Is this meant to be romance? Because the romance is so icky and groomy

I like the story but these constant ‘invention’ bits make it so hard to take this book seriously. Am I really supposed to believe that these people entered the iron age and developed agriculture alongside complex social organisation without ever inventing the wheel??? Or the bucket?? Or arrows???

If the people in this book spoke to each other instead of jumping to conclusions it would be over already

Can someone tell me why anyone is supposed to care that Sarkis was a traitor a 1000 years ago? People change in 10 years??? Let alone 1000??? This is so unnecessarily dramatic.

Andy Weir can be so hit and miss but the audiobook for this is SO GOOD. I dont think Ive been this invested in a story for a while

I’m a little disappointed to be honest, a lot of it seems to be rehashing the first book and I’m like 90% sure I’ve already solved the mystery. Like, Sou’s character is interesting and the setting is quite atmospheric but there isn’t much else going on

This feels incredibly disjointed with long music breaks every 5 minutes, it’s so hard to focus

I have no issues with the book itself and usually the audiobook narration has been good but I just can’t get behind the English accents in this one

Okay another SPOILERY thing: Ava rules Saint-Yves out as a suspect because he sees a wraith attempt to kill him and shifts her suspicions to Bianca but just a few chapters ago she literally killed another wraith to save Bianca as well??? Am I remembering this wrong because make it make senseeeee

Okay I do like this book but the world building doesn’t make a lot of sense to me sometimes. From what I have gathered this is set in a flooded post-apocalyptic Athens but the streets are called ‘Hanover street’ etc. I’m not saying that that this post-apocalyptic Athens cannot be multicultural but surely at least the original street names would have survived??
