Promising start, though first person is never my favorite perspective.

I liked the resolution to 'The Yellow Face'. Barely remember the other two I read yesterday, tho.

Back with Arlen, but enjoying it more.
The thing about this book is that while I'm reading it, it flows fairly well and I'm not groaning or hating it or anything. But when I'm not reading it, I don't feel compelled to pick it back up.
It's like certain TV shows - I'll watch them if they're there, but I won't go out of my way to see them...

I liked Leesha's first section much better than Arlen's. (Mostly because I liked Bruna.) But I have hope, now.

Early days yet, but I don't have a good feeling about it. It's still predictable, and rather ho-hum.
I'm really hoping it picks up after all the 5 star reviews...

Started off strongly, prose wise, but I'm finding the unfolding kind of predictable so far.

Kinda bored, actually.
Last night there was a part at the end of a chapter where Flamel was attacked, his attacker hising above him, and the chapter ended and instead of reading on, I was like "ok - time for bed. *yawn*"
Very ho hum...

Scatty? Seriously? *sighs*

I keep flipping between groand and chuckles with this book. I like some of the "secret history" stuff, but it's starting to get a bit "is there anything you people didn't influence?"
I also have to keep reminding myself that it is written for a younger audience, and maybe they do need things like auras explained to them...

The story is sort of predictable, but fun. I didn't want to put it down last night, but finally forced myself to go to bed.

So far it's reminded me a little bit of Ferngully in places, and Abhorsen in other places... and while it's a standard sort of "prophesied hero saves from big bad", I'm enjoying the characterizations and the unfolding of the story.

'The Speckled Band' was kind of creepy and macabre. I approve. The others have been ok.

It's been a bit slow so far. Kind of cute, but not as funny as I'd been lead to believe. But it's been mostly set-up so far, and seems to be picking up. The premise certainly has potential. Even if I don't love this one, I'll probably read the next in the series to see how it fares.

I enjoyed 'The Kelpie' by Patricia A. McKillip quite as much as Kim Newman's story, though agian I may be biased for a partiality towards Victorina-esque settings.
'An Embarrassment of Elves' by Craig Shaw Gardner was cute, but I couldn't help but feel I was reading a sort of Discworld knock-off.
Currently on the last of the set, 'Except for the Queen', by Yolen & Snyder, but I'm kinda meh about it so far.

"I'm liking the Kim Newman story the best so far - but I may be a bit biased, as I've read stuff by him in the past and quite enjoyed it. Also, it's written in mystery style, which I've been reading more and more of lately, and has had some funny little references to Sherlock Holmes and stuff, which I quite enjoyed."

I picked this up at Goodwill one day for 50 cents. An anthology of faerie stories - one of my favorite subjects - and by popular fantasy authors that I've never personally read, such as Tanith Lee and Robin Hobb. I'm only on the second story, but I'm not enthralled thus far...

'EE' did get better. LT's theory of pets had some funny quips. 'Road Virus' was ok, but I already knew most of the story from the TV show. 'Gotham Cafe' was just weird. And now I'm about half-way through '1408', which is the story I picked this collection up for - so yay.

Finished 'Sisters of Eluria'. Poor Roland - he just can't catch a break in love, can he? Lucky bastard in other regards, though. Suppose it must be ka, 'cause what else could it be? :>
About half way through 'Everything's Eventual' now. Funny how even a 50 page story can seem too long sometimes...

I'm not sure if it's the language or my frame of mind, but I'm having a hard time staying focused on this one. Also, I've started skipping down whenever Joseph talks - it takes far too much effort to decipher his 'accent', and I'm not sure why his is so damndably thick when none of the others seem to have any.
Now that Heathcliff's returned a bit older, I'm hoping things pick up.
