I read most of the 'Magician's Ward' in one sitting. I really wanted to finish it, but forced myself to bed.

Finished 'Marielon the Magician' - book one of this two book, um, book. It was pretty good. Still had a hard time keeping people straight, but I liked the whole farce sort of ending. 3 1/2 stars

Ack - too many people. I can't keep all the names straight.

Not bad, but a bit slow to start. I'm conflicted on the 'accents' thus far.

Holmes' grand re-entry to the land of the living was a bit ho-hum (Empty Room), but the Norwood Builder story was good. The Dancing Men was ok, but a bit predictable.

There are times when it's touching - even a little heart-wrenching - but then it fizzles.

Decent story, but I don't get all the fuss.

'The Final Problem' was touching, though no longer the final. I wonder if Holmes was one of the first literary characters who had to be resurrected by popular demand.

I enjoyed the 'Reigate Puzzle' quite a bit, and the 'Greek Interpreter' was ok.

To authors: Author pimping is really annoying. Shills are even more annoying. Do you realize you turn people off reading your books with these tactics?

It's picked up a bit in the last 20 pages or so... so that's something.

Interesting enough, but there's just something missing. Maybe it's because Dickens was never my favorite - but I think it has more to do with the lack of a real feeling of consequence.

Hasn't really hooked me yet.

'The Musgrave Ritual' is one I've been looking forward to, because I thought it would be occulty, like the movie. It very much wasn't.
Also, I knew what the 'ritual' referred to immediately, so the 10 generations, of however many, of Musgraves were idiots. ;>

The font of this book is really, really large - like I'm having a hard time reading it, it's that big.

I sort of gloss over the scenery stuff, but, luckily, those aren't over detailed or drawn out or anything. I'm mostly enjoying it, though the whole thing is quite silly. :>

I liked the description of the wedding in the beginning, but I'm a sap. It's a bit plodding at present...

I was happier before the 'true God' stuff, but I'm still enjoying the multiple reality headtrip stuff...

So, there's a lot of twists in this story. Once you think you know what's going on, everything changes. Currently, I have no effing clue what's going on. I think this is a good thing... I guess we'll see what happens.

Has a device (forget the name) which sort of works like a pensieve - useful for the story, with a good explanation of the science behind it. I approve. :>

Downloaded this because it sounded interesting, and 'cause it was free and I wanted to test using the iPod Touch as an eReader. I'm only on chapter 5 or so, but it's better than I anticipated.

Not a bad story, but a bit younger on the YA scale than I expected it to be. Not sure why, precisely, but it's written in a way which keeps me distanced and not truly invested in the characters.
