Heh - I liked the final story, ' Second Stain'. Holmes' quip at the end is a charming way to end the set.

I like 'Abbey Grange' less for the mystery and more for what it shows, or reinforces, about Holmes' character - that he is a man who cares about justice more than law. I can appreciate the sentiment.

The 'three students' was just ok, but 'The Adventure of the Golden Pince-Nez' was quite fun and clever. One of the better stories by far.

I got tense just reading about the description of the story within the first story...

Miss Temple is much more sensible and take-charge when paired with Eloise, which is nice, but the whole thing is still plodding rather slowly.

Gods dammit. I thought things were finally coming together and going to start picking up, but then we went back to the damn past again! Ugh - I'm going to bed.

That part with Svenson isn't as bad as before, but I still don't like the way the timeline is told.

It's funny. When I was reading Volume 1, I enjoyed Celeste's parts the most, at least in the beginning. Now, as I was reading Celeste's part, I was longing to go back to Chang. I'm enjoying Chang's part much more - though I dread returning to the boring Svenson. At least Miss Temple's part, however frustrating, has moments of titillation, disturbing as it may be. Svenson doesn't really add anything thus far.
