Bit slow-going, but I wonder how much of that is because I sort of know what happens.

Poor long-suffering Professor Lyall.

I suppose one thing about a cliff-hanger ending is that it doesn't take long to settle into the new book.
I'm all adither to see how this all turns out!

Moving along a bit slowly...

Just started the seventh book. Since none of the books are self-contained, I'm really glad I can read them as a straight shot.

Kinda digging the beginning of Merlin's arc - but he's kinda stupid, isn't he? I mean, come on now, 'Merle' - open your eyes a bit there, bub.

I'm kinda curious as to what's going on, and who Thomas is, etc - but I don't really care about any of the people, so it's sort of ho-hum reading.

Drops you into the story without preamble or set-up. A good hook for this type of story.

Pretty good pacing thus far.

The voice of the story seems older than the first, which is jarring since it's meant to be directly continuous. It's something hard to believe the narrator is a 14 year old girl. Other than that, I'm still enjoying it - and it was fun to see a fretting Sherlock Holmes.

It's an interesting mix of being derivative and yet twisty. Unfortunately, so far it hasn't engaged me enough to elevate it above its confederates.

'Solitary Cyclist' was meh.

A side-point of interest. Between the time Holmes disappeared, and his sudden return, Mrs. Watson appears to have died or disappeared herself - without there ever being any mention of it whatsoever. Watson moves back in with Holmes, and we're never told what happened to poor Mrs. Watson...
