the format of this is kinda cheeky and amusing, but definitely doesn't have the impact of the original book or anything yet
it's also a little tedious to hear the narrator do a whole chapter straight of babydoll voice, which is a drawback to the audiobook

struggling a little to crack into this one. the writing is decent but I find a lot of the world to be... weird in a bad way? like I'm questioning the decisions the author made. and the characters feel a little too simple and annoyingly dumb. but also none of the main plot has started and they haven't even met yet, so hoping it gets good after that!

there's something very weird & slightly unsettling about reading a witchy book written by a man. I actually thought it was a female author since the subject matter & the abbreviated author name is more prevalent among women, but the writing really just feels too dude-ish @ times so I finally checked the author pronouns
it's not bad, but man does this not feel like a trad pubbed book, let alone from this century
