Glad to see Nina's doing alright. Kaz being brilliant as always (geez, the way he spoke to that little girl, that was horrible!) Although I bet he got Inej's location wrong and it's the place in Wylan's name (man, Van Eck is brutal).

Part 5! My goodness, this was just Backstory Central. Inej, oh my beautiful Inej. The writing style as she was climbing the rope just hurt me so bad. But what I think was most fascinating was seeing Kaz's weaknesses. I mean, throughout the book he's seen as this brilliant ruthless leader who doesn't seem to have many emotions. But here it shows that he has some weaknesses and HOW he came to have them. Very nice.

Ok but why is Kaz so hopeless, sweetheart...He basically went "Oh I care about Inej so much. I think I'll tell her she means nothing to me." DUDE.
What I'm also seeing is that the S&B show did Nina and Matthias very accurately which I LOVE. Yes, Nina, corrupt the man. Do it. It's so funny.

I made it to pt 3 and I'd like to emphasize ships in the group. The dynamics are very interesting. Kaz's brutal protectiveness towards Inej ("Matthias suspected that Brekker would drag the girl back from hell himself if he had to.") The enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies again of Matthias and Nina (I'm LOVING the way they're so conflicted), and the playful teasing of Jesper and Wylan (I've been fed flirty Jesper FINALLY)

Trying to stop myself from reading this in one sitting and then forgetting all about it so I'm stopping at part two to update. Really looking forward to finding out how Pekka Rollins killed Jordie (that's what I'm assuming happened? Either I haven't been paying attention or that's what it's implying). Changing POVs is really effective so far! Loving Nina and the prison break (but what's up with Matthias?)

This book has such a different energy from the previous trilogy. Not simply in the setting, but in the writing style. I don't know if it was just changed for this series alone or if Bardugo has matured since then. Also, Kaz is brilliant, I knew he was popular and maybe I partially like him because of the popularity, but I didn't expect this. I worry about the changing perspectives, but so far it seems to work.

Ain’t nothing wrong with a simple reread, is there? I love the refreshing and simple writing style of this book, and the humour in it is 👌👌👌! It really holds a special place in my heart but now it’s more of a quick read to bring a smile on my face than anything else. Fuck Martin all my homies hate Martin. Man I adore Blue too much.

I like Alina taking charge and basically saying F you to the Apparat, he’s not the one in power she is!!!! Bring Nikolai back pls

I’m listening to the audiobook (read by the author!!!) and I adore it so far! I’m not a big fan of children though (or stories about parenting) but something about this book just made me attached to Baby Girl and Emoni :) I love the audiobook too because you can hear Acevedo’s voice (which is as soft and strong as her writing)

I’m listening to this while on a road trip and honestly I agree with a lot. The writing style is a bit questionable lol (I can’t believe I’m saying this but maybe there are TOO many swear words lol) and there’s some stuff that’s like mehhh (I don’t think it’s possible to be aware of every single thought you’re having and why you’re having it lol) but overall it’s enjoyable and pretty quick

God this book just makes me uncomfortable. I'm pretty sure that's what the author had intended so kudos to her but arghhh it's not like ooooh scary in a GOOD way yaknow it's more like yikes I want to get the hell away from this! I want to finish this book already just to get ahead on my challenge but ahhhhh I just want it to be over I want Noemi to leave and let everyone at High Place rot

Man it’s like The Yellow Wallpaper....It’s really bothering me, there’s a really negative vibe to the story, done on purpose of course but I’m not enjoying it. I want to know what the hell is going on. Why can’t Howard just kick the bucket already and free everyone lmao?? What’s happening to Catalina?? Oh well. I still absolutely adore Francis he better not break my heart.

Not quite sure where this book is going...So far it seems like this family is racist and classist and incestuous, might be some sort of commentary on the elite or something idk. I wonder what’s going on with Catalina. Francis seems sweet. Noemí seems interesting. ok.

It’s very....enchanting! A bit of a childish yet at the same time no nonsense writing style. Sophie isn’t having ANY of Howl’s bs. Michael is a sweetheart. I still can’t tell which is Lettie and which is Martha. Yes I started this book because of the movie. Oh well.

yeah i was having fun with it but am yet again disappointed with men kissing alina without her consent. seems like this one’s not getting away with it though! i’ll find out when i read later

Meh. I didn’t find the Darkling reveal to be such a surprise and man is Mal a jerk. Alina stays a kinda bland and naive MC I’m sorry I don’t like her that much. Needed to wait for magical powers to get confident? idk

It’s going okay, the plot seems kind of basic and Alina is kind of bland though. I like the Darkling though he seems suspicious. I love Genya need me a friend like that, everyone else sucks. I wonder what happened to Mal

PLEASE IT’S SO FUNNY. How the hell has Watney not lost his sanity already. I really like the progression and how it’s kind of changed from a linear timeline, switching its perspectives.

Pretty good so far! I like how it addresses the casual racism not only from white people but also from one minority to another, because it’s something that does exist and even something like stereotypes can have a big impact. Loving the romance so far, it’s cute.

Realized I haven’t updated this whoops. I love this plot and premise!!! I’m a huge fan of space travel sci-fi, and I like how. Realistic it is? The math and science really checks out. I love the way the protagonist Mark is portrayed by the writing style of the logs. Mindy carried NASA on her back. I also watched the movie (mistake because spoilers) which was amazing!

First part was very long and draining, but I understand why Martel set it up the way he did. There’s a lot of action now in part two, probably a bit too graphic and gorey.

Pretty cool so far! Stories like this are very important so people don’t feel like they’re alone

Not a fan of the switching perspectives, big fan of demon slayer guy, not so sure about fox girl. Pretty interesting though
