I had about given up on grand fantasy. With Eddings dead, Brooks and Goodkind descending into banality, I hadn't read any particularly great fantasy in a while. Sure there are a few indie fantasy authors that write really good fantasy, but nothing on the scale such as this.

Picked this one up on recommendation from a friend. I am leery of anything that is LitRPG-based, although I have read some good stuff as well. This starts a little slow, but so far hasn't been boring enough to stop reading. Little different set up, but a decent MC so far. Quite a bit of world & character development in the first three chapters which is a little slow.

Taking a break from In Death for now ...

I am fortunate the author has kindly provided me with an advance copy of this book. Some minor typos, and some continuity questions, but a decent book. The way that the Battle Saints heal though is a real problem for me - there is no free lunch in physics, that sort of healing (and the muscle mass they carry) should require a much larger caloric intake. Of course Battle Saints suffering Rabdo wouldn't be interesting.

I would get this book done, if I didn't keep getting sucked into other books. I've been on a Nora Roberts marathon, so I took a little break reading some other fiction as I am taking a break from my usual Space Opera.

Going through this series again - I think I missed this book and the previous, because it is hard to keep up with this author.

I've read and re-read this series many times. Every time I reread one of the books in this series, I pick up things I missed (or forgot, old age catching up to me) the last time I read it.

I was leery of reading this book as it sounded more like word porn, rather than an interesting story. But I have read other works by this author and liked them, so I grabbed this book and gave it a shot. So far not too bad, but does start rather slow with a lot of dialogue and world building. If you are looking for a bodice-ripper porno/romance you need to look elsewhere.

So far these have been decent harem altlit. Perhaps a little less tame than I was hoping & (so far) there is no girl-girl action unlike many of these harem stories but well-written enough to keep my attention. Hasn't slid as badly as I feared. Some indy authors have a good idea for one book maybe two but by the third have totally ran dry & produce a lackluster & boring story. So far this one is good enough to read.
