There were small parts in the book where Sider's ward is shown being wary, at a boarding school, and now that Sider is dead, she is his heir, but she's basically happy he's dead. I guess this is a set up for stories later on.

Before Collin arrives Sider kills Foot in front of her and sprays blood everywhere, especially on her. After he arrives, Sider cuts her throat, but not enough to kill her. He doesn't know this and goes berserk. She thinks she is only a burden to him and he thinks she doesn't trust him to take care of each other so there is friction to the end.

Collin's well-guarded and there are a few attempts on him that were deflected by having lots of men around. After his horse is seriously injured and she sees the blood trail, she agrees to marry him. He is truly reformed from his past mistakes and working hard at redeeming himself. She goes to visit former student without full contingent of men and Foot captures her as she is leaving. He's working with Sider.

He leaves her village and later Sider comes looking for him. She and her mother go to warn Collin. They resume the betrothal ruse, but Collin wants it to be real and they go to London. She sees former student while out shopping.

After she proves herself and lures him into losing control they have a glorious night, but he tells her it cannot happen again so she leaves him. He gets talked out of it and chases after her then all's well.

Jane is a super-shy bookish young woman who feels she is the absolute wrong choice for duchess. She freezes up when near new people. They have guests coming so he takes the load off her, but she perceives it as her not being fit for her role as hostess. She works, with the help of her best friend and sister-in-law, to take control and hosts a quickly organized ball to prove she can.

Harrison initially thinks he should not take his appetites out on his new duchess. Then he loses control, and she discovers he is all hard control which she sets out to break. Author is overdone on the sex crazed couples where the man is super possessive of the woman. She gets kidnapped and he almost kills the man. He decides he has to keep his distance from her. He is grappling with issues of being like his father.

She is desperately poor, and her vicar father is dying. She is about to lose all and the girl's school as well. She finds Collin unconscious after being tortured and takes him to her home. She and her mother tend him. This is a fake betrothal she needs to protect herself from a vile local man set on her.

Harrison's brother Collin lured Jane into the scandalous bet that ruined her. He told Collin not to offer because that would be too much punishment for Jane. Collin needed the money to pay his debts to a dangerous man. Harrison asked for Jane's hand so that he would save the family honor and hers and her sisters as well. After wedding, he is satisfied that she treats him like a man instead of as an elevated duke.

Jane gets stuck in a window trying to sneak into a townhouse to steal a necklace for a friend and it is all a bet by a group of cads so she is doubly humiliated. Then story jumps back 6 weeks.

Lucien's path to now is not clear until the very end where he hopes his sister is at peace. He reviews Victoria's sketches and painting to discover she loves him. His friend revealed that pointing Lucien toward revenge was the only thing that kept him from potentially ending it all. At Waterloo, his was trapped under his dead horse, sister killed herself, and brother died in duel with duke.

Victoria eventually goes against Lucien's command and goes to her brother's house although his staff attempted to thwart her. Her brother Collin was the one that impregnated his sister. She didn't know the source of the problem until at her brother's home. Lucien realizes he's made a horrendous mistake and has seriously hurt Victoria in the process. The staff are afraid she will leave him.

Lucien ruins her by seducing her on a terrace while she gets swept away. He did this to get back at her brother who killed his brother in a duel. Then he marries her to help her with the scandal. They are both sex-crazed for the other. He won't let her be in any kind of contact with her brother to continually punish him which has the side effect of punishing her. They try to wipe away the scandal, but it is strong.

We've met 7-year-old Ezra, who was banished from his village after he mysteriously destroyed attacking wild animals (and everything). He runs into 3 goblins that feed and take care of him. They brought him to an Uberlin high priestess sent to deliver him a gift. They now must raise him to adulthood and the magnificent bird he sometimes sees leads him where he needs to go.

She left him twice, first after overhearing his father disparaging her. The second time was when she thought that separation was inevitable. They made love and he apologized that he had not meant to impregnate. She took this very negatively. He decided to woo her and caught up to her in Scotland. Her father's trading partner ambushed them in Castle Doom.

Kyle returned very reserved and thought he needed to set Troth free with an unblemished reputation. She thought that he didn't want her and was only willing to stick to the marriage out of obligation. She loved him and wanted him to love or at least care for her.

They traveled back a different return route and watched the parade for the Prefect's first son. Returning to their room, drunkards knocked off Kyle's hat, wig, and part of his bandages. They fled, but Kyle turned himself in after he got Troth away. The Prefect sentenced him to death by firing squad in 2 days. After fire command, Troth headed to Macao, but the Prefect was torturing Kyle. There were more fake killings.

They made the trip to the Hoshan temple and also found a hidden temple on the way. Kyle experienced grace at both places in increasing quantities. They quickly became lovers because she really wanted it and took their time getting to Hoshan. While in the Hoshan gardens, Kyle pulled down his bandages to get a better look and was caught by one of the monks. He smoothed the way by namaste.

Troth reached Dominic and is beginning the adjustment process. Kyle is beginning his trek to see the temple with Troth's guidance. There is powerful Chi that passes between them when they touch and one kiss to start the journey almost got out of hand. Gavin is having a bad premonition that this trip will go badly and asked him not to go.

At the end, they discover that Uncle Graham had arranged for the massacre and tried to kill Meriel because she remembered what happened. After many came to their rescue, Graham tried to jump off of the castle cliff while holding Meriel. Dominic grabber her and kept her from going over the edge. Kyle is going to travel.

These two hooked up, but a permanent get together is TBD. She's moved to the capital, and she sent him an application to be the king's chief of security.

The cursed dragon bones were magically placed there to create a ruse that soldiers could enter undetected to try to kill the minister. The soldiers killed everyone instead by bombing the interior of the complex.

Sardelle, Therik, & Babasarooth tracked Ridge, who was being controlled and deceived by the enemy sorceress. The blade Reltad saved Ridge because he had fought valiantly but took his memory as part of the deception. Fal tried to defect to the Cofah side with Tylee, but a gold dragon took that spot and tried to kill him. Entire castle was destroyed and Ridge was highly liable.

The soulblade of the enemy sorceress eventually has a break with her and refuses to support her or protect her from getting killed. The Cofah emperor is captured by Cas and Kaika's team in a foreign country and sent to exile. His daughter had to be returned to Cofah even though she got along great with Pimples.

They tried and failed to bury the gold dragon in mountain. Cas couldn't get at him with sword on ground. Theric fought with Cassandrel and nearly died. Sardelle healed him. Fal was seriously injured and left. Cas jumped from plane to tackle dragon in air. Sardelle traded library for help from new small gold dragon. Ridge's engine blew up and he crashed. They couldn't find him.

Gold dragon is wreaking havoc. Cas agrees to wield dragon-killing sword again. Gold dragon wants Tylee for himself and is attacking the outpost for a "dragon library". Fal caused mountain to collapse on himself while digging for soul blade and then getting sidetracked by library. Gold dragon made it worse by causing earthquakes.

Evangeline has lost her mother and fled her abusive stepfather. I don't know why she went to the Stanton's. Gavin's home is dark and forbidding with many secret passages. Gavin is also a scarred recluse that all are afraid of.

When Miranda and Nicko travel through the stitch they jump to 1975 or so. They lay it out that these two can travel for various unknown adventures.

The Norrington ghost was trying to get Emily's father to kill Niko. He ordered cabin boy locked in pantry. They were trying to drive out the local fishermen, etc. Living Norrington is guilty of treason, but agrees to a truce.
